:p It was a cheap shot. I actually have roof racks too, but they are only on the car when they are in use.

Did you notice the wind thing on the front of my rack? That makes my car like at least a second faster on the quarter mile. It's a 318i so that brings the total time down to about a minute and a half.

Yea only 97 were made.

Its only got 350hp. The one you want is the B12 5.7 that comes with 416hp. Only 57 of those were ever made.

In very many ways. Powerplants available were supercar territory at the time and they were the first production car to utilize multiplexed wiring. A car with an internet.

He is right though that its got the wrong engine. By then Alpina had moved into the luxury car segment and gave up on putting stupidly powerful powerplants into cars. They peaked in the E21.

It was cool then, I would dread owning one now though. Youd need an asian kid to figure out why the taillights arent working.

Everyone on this post has said that these cars WERE way ahead of their time. I had the good fortune to drive an E31 and an E39 M5 back to back about two months ago. Let me tell you the E31 doesn't give up a whole lot to any newer BMW performance wise. Taking into account that it is a very fat and heavy car. And it is one of the last BMWs ever made that has a truly timeless look that will never age. Still a very hot car. Not to mention prices are getting to the point that most people can almost afford to drive them, as long as nothing ever breaks on them that is. Just my 2 cents.....
