idunno. Clarkson's silly grin while driving the 86 recently makes me think the author may be on to something. i just wish i could bring my own tires for the test-drive. :|

A 2800 lb 2+2 sports sedan with near 50/50 weight balance, ~195 hp 4 banger and rear drive vs a 2700 lb 2+2 sports sedan with near 50/50 weight balance, 197 hp 4 banger and rear drive.

How are you getting "apples and oranges" out of that? I think it's pretty obvious what Toyota was targeting when they built the car.

I posted the FRS was a modern day E30 in one of the old threads.

          Thanks for catching up.

            This x1000

I got the chance to auto-x the new Scion fr-s and it's probably one the funnest car I've driven. Very comparable to an E30 M3. It's probably the only new car I'd consider buying.

Jeez everyones getting all butt hurt.
I believe it's a better representation of a modern, true sports car. I would never call it a modern day E30.

right, cause it doesn't have a shitty trailing arm rear suspension

I would call it what it is. A cheap ass car with no modern technology. Not really a good thing to be equal to a car that was developed in the 70s...........
                            whatever toyota.

No, I am not butthurt, Just don't agree with all the bull about modern technology being bad, but then again, I stopped reading when I saw the second picture of the toyota thing.

The whole article is all conjecture anyway. The author hasn't even driven the Toyota. Some comparison...
