The OP is a total fucking moron. Yes, 7k for that...you must have NO CLUE what these are going for now days. I saw a super bug go for 5k that did not have a floor pan and needed a lot of work. All that bug needs is a paint job IMHO.

The first one you posted with the shiny paint...that is 10k plus all day. I would gladly fork out 12k if the interior and engine was up to date.

The bug is one of my dream cars, but I cannot find one locally for a good price.

Now at the hipster comment, stfu. It is getting old hearing that on here. That Bug is one sexy rat rod! Judging a car by the paint is stupid. If it was shiny you would like it no? It would look the same as the other one if it had nice paint.

His ad is well wrote, clean detailed pictures. Ride height looks fantastic, runs well from what the Ad says. Said will take a reasonable offer and only wants it to go to a good home. That tells me he cares about it and takes pride in his stuff. He is an enthusiast.

Sometimes type 1's are beyond repair and people drive them to death just for fun. Personally I think those cars get a pass just because they look so damn good all nasty and original. It's a VW thing, not everyone gets it.

the 'hipster' car is cool. it was probably bought with the dents and rust.. as most 40-50 year old beetles will have. i see nothing wrong with buying the car and complimenting the existing cosmetics.

his price is out of line, but he probably loves it and has trouble balancing emotional value with financial value.. that and he doesn't really want to sell.
