I live in Virginia. I thank you for this. In my County I doesn't matter what the ticket is for you still have to pay a $70 court fee even if you prepay.

This is fantastic.
I'm paying my property taxes in coinage this year.
Also, when living in Va, it's good to be friends with a crooked lawyer. got me out of more than a few reckless driving tickets (a CRIMINAL offence in Va).Leave a comment:

Comical update that I think R3V may appreciate:
I'm only updating this because of something that happened on the trip.
After just getting into Virginia, and off of the highway in La Crosse, I got pulled over. I was told that this was a notorious speed trap town, so I minded my P's and Q's. Still got ganked for a burned out tail light bulb. No biggie right?
Wrong.
I told them that I would be in town only for a couple days, and that I would fix it. "No problem" said the officer, AS HE HANDS ME A TICKET. Alright, I'll take care of this tomorrow.
Next day, I call and offered some solutions to the problem. Nope. None would be honored. Things such as:
Fixing the bulb, taking a picture and emailing them. (They said that it could be a different car.... Not taking my "The officer will attest to my very "Unique" paint job" as a reply)
They would not accept me getting a signed affadavit from another police officer stating it was fixed and mailing it to them. (Could be forged)
They then proceeded to deny me the ability to stop at a police station, get it signed off, and have them FAX it to them. Full non-forgery non car swapping resolution here.
No, my only option was to either be in court, or get a lawyer to represent me in court.
When I was told this, I figured what the hell. Let it happen, how much does a burned out tail light ticket cost? Turns out it's $146.61.
Yeah...
So, after getting pissed off that I had no choice to be in a court a thousand miles away from home in two months. THEN after the court date, getting a letter in the mail saying that I owe them $146.61 in costs, I was more than a little aggravated. And then proceeded to not give a shit.
So. fast forward a month. They send me a letter stating that "My drivers license is suspended", and that I would have to pay an EXTRA $145 on top of my fee's to reinstate driving privileges. Me, knowing my WISCONSIN drivers license, and how Wisco is one of a couple states that do not have points, or suspensions from other states enforced. They are SOL and can do nothing to my drivers license. A quick check with the online services verifies this, and I go on my merry way. To the Bahamas, from Norfolk, that I drove in. Ha.
1 week ago. I get another letter. This time stating that I still owe them money, and that they will garnish 25% of my paycheck (Good luck.... Self employed college student bitches), AND/OR will place a bank attachment to get the money (Good luck with that one too.).
So, now it's getting a little comical. I figure it's my turn to annoy/piss off/aggravate/troll them.
This is my reply, which is in the mail. Took some inspiration from a couple sources. Hope y'all enjoy!
(And stay out of Virginia. They don't like you, so you shouldn't like them)

WOW great trip! I loved every bit of it and read the role story in three sittings this week. I enjoy touring California but that is a whole other level. Also love that you have over 500k on the car now and that the you chose a high mileage car to get it done. I have a 318is with 442,000 and I thought I was up there!Last edited by Wild Ride; 10-21-2013, 08:43 PM.Leave a comment:
