    DO IT!

I used to have a S10 but my GF wanted to buy it after we split so now I'm down to my '86 325es and '90 M3. I love both and am not afraid to hop in either one for whatever I'm doing but since the M3 takes a few to warm up I usually use the 325es more for quick in town driving. I love the fact that they're two different animals too. I will say this, not driving the M3 all week then taking it out Saturday or Sunday really makes it seem that much more special :D

Contemplating a bike and also a GTI (for the hauling space) but I feel with limited funds/time to wrench it's best to keep to two for now. Also would like a built e30, maybe a sleeper, something I could work on at a snails pace and learn on rather then "fix b/c I need to get to work!".

Also for the "if I were rich" people: I would build the absolute fuck out of one M3, then keep another BONE stock. Not sure why people buy stuff for $X when with that money you can build the car you love.

      I currently own 3

-1970 Ford Falcon (inherited it from my grandad as a one owner car, was my first car that i rebuilt with my dad so i dont think this will ever be going anywhere)

      -1986 325e, the daily

-1986 325e #2, the empty shell waiting on a 302 swap and track prep.

I think while im a student this will be the most amount of cars ill ever own, but when i graduate and land a job a nice 130i hatch would be cool, but even then id have to loose one e30. One day ill get that e9 tho...

A while back I had a 2 dr tahoe z71, three e30s and three motorcycles, all registered, insured, and maintained. It was a nightmare.

Now I believe that less is more. Less time and money spent maintaining 3+ cars = more time and money spent enjoying one or two good cars. I am now down to a daily for my wife, a daily for me and one motorcycle.

E30 is cost effective (cheap). Get into another E30 now and save for the right A/B Mopar for when it comes to you. Win/win.

                    I've got two:
88 325is that I drive daily and will eventually be doing something to make a fast, but comfy daily
87 325is that was $700 that I will use as a eventual HPDE/track car and daily while I work on the 88. I bought it to drive while I work on the other.

I have always wanted a mk1 Toyota MR2 for the mid-engined goodness, but being 20 and in school, 3 cars would be a bad idea.

                      I'd like to have a 325i 4 door or e28 535i dd car, and a 2002 m20 turbo weekend thrasher. Dream garage.

Great discussion guys. I bring this topic up in the wake of car-storage issues in my own life. I currently live & go to school in San Diego.
My E30 has been stored in a relative's garage for the last 4 months, and today it was moved out due to their home-renovations, and is now sitting on a random street somewhere in Alameda, CA .

                        I currently have:
                        • My E30, back in Alameda on some random street as noted above :hitler:
                        • My Peugeot 505 Restoration project, at home with my parents, never lettin' go of this one...:D
                        • My Volvo 245, sitting at our house in L.A., will never let go of this car either, too much sentimental value

I feel like the magic number is four+motorbike, ideally when I'm out of college, and have a job. Then, I'd like to own:
                        • My E30, or an E30 M3 Diamantschwarz
                        • My Peugeot, as a garage queen
                        • Hopefully the Volvo 245, if my sister hasn't wrecked it by then
                        • A Toyota Land Cruiser Fj62
                        • A supermoto, BMW enduro, or a sportbike of sorts..

E30 Diamondswartz mtechnic vert this is the car I really wanted when I bought the first Mtech so when it ended up for sale I had to buy it. Factory fresh

In the future I just have bigger plans for my current cars as e30>newer BMW and I am very happy and not yearning to replace my cars with newer ones. I have always wanted an e38, e39m5, a 2002 roundie with a hot motor and an air cooled Porsche widebody, Ferrari F40 of I make it big.
Dude - how do you do it. I feel like MB is discouraging to car-collectors.
And just wondering, is that the same Red e30 on sportmaxes that is ocassionally in the yacht club? Also, which mt2 are you trying to sell? The one with the yellow plate?

Interesting, I've always loved the Corvair. Do you ever plan on owning another BMW or German car?

Yes Mission Beach is a hard place to own multiple cars. I have one parking spot if I drive a car parked on my side street then I take the car in the parking spot and trade them out so I don't loose any parking. I can only drive one at a time.....
I refuse to park on Mission Boulevard due to all the hit and runs the drunks do around here. Also won't park on the point due to break ins and exposure to the elements. Being able to park at the Yacht Club means I always have a fallback plan. I shuffle them around and drive the neglected ones around the block then stick them back under their covers in new parking spots. I also work odd hours so I reclaim the best spots when everyone is gone for the day.

All my neighbors that own the houses and know me well all have garages so they really don't care that much. The renters and vacation rental people can hate me all they want, they never are around for more than a week-year and I was born and raised. They live in my neighborhood and need to accept it.

Yes owning lots of cars where parking is non-existent is alotttttt of work but the payoff is usually worth it. I have to keep them all in running condition otherwise I loose my parking. I also sold an mtech so I am down to 4. after I sell the other mtech I'll have the $$ to buy more cool stuff for the remaining 3 that I want to focus my time on.

I agree with you on sentimental value on the volvo wagons. They get under your skin in the best way, never selling mine.

Sometimes I think about selling them all and building one monster

3 for now: E30, '94 Accord EX, '03 Jaguar S-Type R. Looking to add a 4th here soon, but will likely sell the Jag either before or right after I get #4. I feel like a dumb ass scraping ice off the Honda to drive it to work while the other 2 sat in the garage overnight.
