Hot and humid, no mountains, Southern accents, no snow. It's hell.

Who told you there are no mountains in GA? That's what makes up the entire northern third of the state.
I like Georgia most of the time. Motor Vehicle laws aren't too burdening, lots of nice driving roads. Worst part is the erratic weather. Could be seriously cold (for Georgia weather, to keep you northerners from bitching) for a week in November and then be unseasonably warm. Thats my only complaint.Comment

I know there are mountains out there, maybe not as common as jersey but I don't need a mountain to have fun. It's trivial to many but is tint illegal? Can you lover a car, swap motors etc? We have bigger issues to worry about like jobs and housing which are the primary concern. I'm just in for any and all info

I work a lot in the NE and I just humor all the people out here when they talk about their mountains, they are mostly hills. There are a few Mountainous areas though mostly in NH/VT/ Northern NY State/ a couple of Places in Southern central WV/ a few places in Central PA/ and TN.
Though to be fair there is plenty of fairly rugged hilly places though, but once you spend some time in the northern Rockies, the Sierra's and Cascades, your perception changes someThe American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money. -Alexis de TocquevilleOriginally posted by FusionIf a car is the epitome of freedom, than an electric car is house arrest with your wife titty fucking your next door neighbor.

You can do almost anything you want to a car that's 25 years old. Anything pre 85 has no title, just a bill of sale. It is pretty awesome. Atlanta is a large city. It comes with large city issues. But it also comes with everything you need. Including snow within 3 hours.I know there are mountains out there, maybe not as common as jersey but I don't need a mountain to have fun. I love when people say it doesn't snow here and that sucks. We have the busiest airport in the world..... If I get homesick for jersey weather, I get on a plane and fly to 3 feet of snow. No shoveling, no shivering. If I want to drive a curvy road in the mountains, I go 2 hours north to the curviest road in the us. I have culture, cuisine, bars, friends, 7 million people, cars galore to buy and play with.... I can hike, fish, race, skate, snowboard, whatever.
Also, I've lived out west. It's awesome. Montana, Sacramento, Texas, Seattle. I choose to love here.Last edited by delatlanta1281; 12-01-2013, 07:02 PM.Yours truly,

Lived in the Savannah area all of my life except while in school in Athens/Augusta. Nothing special to me. Definitely not as big or congested as ATL. I still hate the traffic. Most people could not drive before all of the electronic distractions now available.
A couple car related things:
1. emission testing is only in the metro ATL counties.
2. the state recently converted from a yearly ad valorem tax to a 'new title ad valorem tax (TAVT).' TAVT is currently 6.5% of the the 'true-market value' of the automobile. When moving to GA, 50% of that tax is due within 30 days. The remainder within the first year.
http://onlinemvd.dor.ga.gov/TAP/faqs.aspx.
TAVT sucks. Granted, we only pay a ~$20 yearly tag fee now, but the title tax happens every time a new title is issued (with few exceptions). Used cars were once exempt of sales tax. Now the gov't jacks an additional 6.5% from you. And, they determine the value. It can quickly make a good deal not so great. Just what the dealers wanted. For new vehicles, the TAVT replaces the sales tax.
You will never get used to the humidity! In addition to making hot hotter, I have had friends, co-workers, etc tell me it makes the cold feel colder.Comment
