Which is why many o us down here choose not to live up there.
Everything down here is bearable OP. don't move to south Atlanta (Clayton county), or anywhere directly south of Atlanta for that matter.

And I can understand that, but to me the heat you guys have most of the year is not something I could deal with. I hate it when it gets much over 70 degrees, I have family that live in the SW and fuck I dont know how they hell they do it.

East Atlanta and east of atlanta are not the same thing. Lol.
if you do end up in ATL go to grant park/ormewood park, reynoldstown, candler park, VA highlands, East atlanta. All very chill places to live. I hate the rich parts of Atlanta.

I agree with this, HOWEVER. Keep in mind that all of these neighborhoods are an urban environment. Having lived in most of them (I still live in zone 6 actually) for 10+ years I will give you some advice. There are ALOT of smash and grab style break ins down here in city of atlanta. I live in a great area of Kirkwood, and it's still plagued with kids breaking windows and doors to grab laptops and other quick, pawnable items. Even if you have dogs, or an alarm (which I do) they have no problem forcibly entering your home if they think it's un-occupied and there are things to steal. In my part of Kirkwood there have been 6+ break ins over the past 2 weeks. My house was one of them. It comes with the territory, and you need to be aware of your surroundings. The thieves made off with a laptop in my case and were scared off by our alarm system quickly. They didn't care that we have two dogs, and the dogs were not hurt. There are no "safe" neighborhoods in Metro Atlanta, I understand that. But you need to be aware that East Atlanta isn't "chill". Many people are robbed while walking home from bars, restaurants are robbed periodically, and break ins occur daily. If you want to take a look at what happens in my neighborhood, sign up on this forum and read a bit. http://www.historic-kirkwood.com/
Also, check this out. This happened less than a mile from my house.

Not a strange or rare occurrence though. @ 6 years ago a bartender was gunned down in this area after being robbed while closing up. He was a great guy and an awesome person in our community. They caught some of the perps who did it, but largely most robbers go un-caught here.
I love, love, love my neighborhood. I wouldn't leave b/c of petty theft. I just want you to be informed.

I live about 40 miles north of Atlanta and go to school about another 30 miles north of where I live. Never had any problem aside from the occasional shitty driver. However, my sister has lived in Lindbergh, Cabbagetown, and currently lives in Grant Park. Shes has only had trouble one time when a homeless guy punched her while she was running but I'm pretty sure she just kept going. I don't think I have ever felt really unsafe in Atlanta with as much as I go down their but I do keep an eye on whats happening around me.
