That's good to hear. You should be able to come down here and enjoy all the city has to offer. As long as you keep in mind it is a major city with major city crime. If I didn't feel safe I wouldn't live here.
    Yours truly,

I love, love, love my neighborhood. I wouldn't leave b/c of petty theft. I just want you to be informed.

Thanks for the input. I do love the overal vibe of Georgia and I know what it's like to be In an urban area. I currently work in Newark at a jail, and in the community. I see Newark life day and night.

And for few weeks each Spring, the pollen sucks!
Extremely high pollen right now; worse than the sinus congestion is the yellow dust that gets all over the cars.
But most importantly, we have Road Atlanta!

Maybe its global warming but in the past few years here its not exceptionally hot.

Having lived in most of them (I still live in zone 6 actually) for 10+ years I will give you some advice. There are ALOT of smash and grab style break ins down here in city of atlanta. I live in a great area of Kirkwood, and it's still plagued with kids breaking windows and doors to grab laptops and other quick, pawnable items. Even if you have dogs, or an alarm (which I do) they have no problem forcibly entering your home if they think it's un-occupied and there are things to steal. In my part of Kirkwood there have been 6+ break ins over the past 2 weeks. My house was one of them. It comes with the territory, and you need to be aware of your surroundings. The thieves made off with a laptop in my case and were scared off by our alarm system quickly. They didn't care that we have two dogs, and the dogs were not hurt. There are no "safe" neighborhoods in Metro Atlanta, I understand that. But you need to be aware that East Atlanta isn't "chill". Many people are robbed while walking home from bars, restaurants are robbed periodically, and break ins occur daily. If you want to take a look at what happens in my neighborhood, sign up on this forum and read a bit. http://www.historic-kirkwood.com/
Also, check this out. This happened less than a mile from my house.

Not a strange or rare occurrence though. @ 6 years ago a bartender was gunned down in this area after being robbed while closing up. He was a great guy and an awesome person in our community. They caught some of the perps who did it, but largely most robbers go un-caught here.

I don't deny any of this. There have been a couple of break ins on my street: next door neighbor who my family has been close to since moving into this house (1995) got a bunch of jewelry stolen, across the street 2 doors down the hill folks had a monte carlo or impala or some shit pull behind their house and break in the back and jacked laptops and other stuff, since then they had a gate installed, me and my neighbor and brother actually witnessed this one, we were little kids so we only realized what was going on until after the fact. Since all that shit they've gotten off duty cops to do the 'trolley patrol' thing for grant and ormewood park areas, and the neighborhood watch is pretty good. People do get robbed coming home from bars, and that's because they are 8 times out of 10 being drunk mark idiots, I've been in Atlanta in the same area for my whole life and know it quite well. To protect yourself get a concealed carry, dont be too big of a waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles to stand up to random people who fuck with you on the street, etc. To protect your house, get dogs ( i know you said you had them but it can't hurt), alarm system, GET TO KNOW YOUR NEIGHBORS, buy guns and clean them on the porch lol, leave lights on at night, and don't live your life in a way that is ultra routine based, in which someone could case you out and learn the times where they could break in. That sucks your house got busted into man, I'm sorry. And the crazy thing is, that robbery at Wahoo I was told about by 2 of my friends who work there, they think it was an ex employee because they knew the layout quite well.

tldr; Atlanta is way cool if you know what you're doing and have common sense.

edit: my street is super calm. It's by the kroger on moreland, not edgewood but the one like 1 more mile further south with zestos and BK. Check out this place JJs country cookin right by there, its rad. At night cars go by maybe every 30 minutes to an hour, rarely will you see a person besides a dog walker or someone coming home with groceries or whatever. I love it.

You couldn't pay me enough to live in Atlanta! I was in Alpharetta last week for a training class for work. We got out of class on Wednesday at 4pm. I was heading to Columbia. It took me over 2 hours just to get out of Atlanta! I can't stand that place. It's like a city built for 1 million people that 10 billion people live in.

If you can choose anywhere in ga to live., move to savannah. You will not regret it. Awesome small city. I lived there for a little over 1 year and miss it big time.

If you're scared go to church.

And whatever you do, DO NOT leave the house in a motor vehicle between the hours of 7-9 am and 5-7pm if you can help it hahaha

                        I hear Savannah is cool.
