But as to the original question of what to do - best thing is to drive to a police station.

I only get people following me to ask me about my car and try to buy it I had someone follow me (unknowing to me that he was following) at midnight once to talk to me about it freaked the fucking hell out of me though when he stopped and parked blocking my driveway. People don't think sometimes

Hey, look at it this way, at least it wasn't the police/chp that was following you. I had that issue a couple weeks ago. CHP followed me halfway around town. He even stopped and parked in front of me when went into Villa Corona for dinner, then over to Trader Joes to go shopping. He was still there when I came out of T.Js, and went back to pick up my food at V.C. I got into the car, started it, he started his car, but was forced to pull out of his spot when someone in a minivan tried to force their way into a parking spot in front of him. He took off and waited for me on the freeway onramp. When I went past he jumped in line two cars back and followed me from Trancas to the 1st st offramp. He didn't follow me after I got off.

          Now that was weird.

I had some jackass in a 4runner tailgate me one time after I passed him (he was going 90 in a 100 zone), he got super close to my bumper and also turned on his highbeams, he was definitely following me.

It was the middle of the night too which made me a little nervous about it, so on a big stretch of road I passed another car in front of me and just gave'r up to about 160 (My 325is of course) on a main stretch of rural road leading into town(there was no other traffic either), flicked off my lights completely and managed to outmaneuver and lose him in a residential area.

When I got home I had a bit of a panic attack on how much worse the situation could have went.

If it happened again I would just pull into the police station parking lot and see if they try to follow me in there.

It's events like this that make me trust my E30 with my life, a car that won't let me down, especially when I need it the most.

I have a great creepy follower story, but unfortunately I took the follower role.

Back when I had my 2002, I drove it to Lime Rock Park (about 45 minutes from my house). While at the track, I noticed the battery charge light had come on, which made me think the alternator was going bad. I was driving home alone and didn't want to get stuck, so I came up with a genius plan for getting home: I would turn on the headlights, go as fast as was reasonable, come up on some other car, shut the lights off, and follow them using their lights until they turned off the road. Then I would repeat.

I'm sure I gave a good amount of people a really uncomfortable night.

                            lmao!

That reminds me of my experience with my old e30's turn signal stalk. Something was wrong in there and the high beams would flicker on and off randomly every time the signal was engaged.

At 11PM I was going home on the back road which is a bit rural but has a police training facility hidden in there, so I make sure to signal off of the main road. Well there was a corolla in front of me that got pretty spooked and took off from the light pretty hot. I'm already having a good laugh to myself about that little incident when someone pulls in front of him making him slow down. So once again I'm close behind, but I make sure to keep a fair distance.

As it were, we both turn on to another rural street and out of habit I signal right. High beams go off again and the driver this time mashes the gas and takes off, then swerves right on to another street. I continued home laughing all the way

Yeah it kinda creeped me out, but I had just gotten back from a 20 mile bike ride with 2200 feet of climbing, I was tired and I was starving. The only thing I wanted to do was eat the giant burrito on the seat next to me.

Yes I was driving the M3. The only thing that might have caught his attention was the fact that I merged onto the freeway at 65 mph from an onramp that most people take at maybe 30. (Late apex and loads of grip allow one to do this ) I checked my mirrors and there was no one around when I entered the slow lane. The guy appeared next to me out of nowhere, pulled up alongside me then fell in behind me to the point that he was drafting me. Had brake checked him, he would have rear ended me. He was so close his headlights were not visible in my rear view mirror because they were below the trunk lid, and his head was obscured by the gurney flap on the spoiler. I got off the freeway, stopped at the stop light, made a right turn, then merged into the left turn lane (using turn signals as I always do), made the left turn into the parking lot, drove through the parking lot and parked, this guy following me like he was my shadow. He never hit the lights, never touched the siren, never pulled me over. He stayed in his car when I got out of mine to go order dinner. He was still in the car when I came out and walked around the corner to go shopping. Was still there when I dropped off the groceries in the car and went back inside the restaurant to pick up my dinner.

Had I been driving the roadster, yeah, it screams follow me closely with its 99.5 dB exhaust, race numbers, roll bar, race seats and harnesses. The M3 however, its quiet, and looks almost stock.

I wish I knew what was up with the guy. It was very strange. I was pretty weirded out by it, but all I really wanted was dinner.
