    Possible move to Seattle!

Moving to Seattle is a possibilty within the next year. The soon to be wife has University of Wash in the law school running so we are trying to figure out the area

I have been there but just for vacation so I really only know about the tourist stuff

What are the best areas to live in?
    How much are decent apartments?
What's a decent house run out there?

Any good schools? Elementary and kindergartens for now

What's there to now about living here?!

    Thanks

Ha I'm assuming its nice out today there!

I've been a million times.. I have some family in monroe, well used to, so we used to go alot. So I would really love to live there. Just don't know much about te cost of living and where to stay away from and that sort of thing

does she plan on driving to school or taking the bus? public transit is really good. Lake City is close to the University District, but Id stay away from there. Lots of nice places that arent far from the U District though. Greenwood, Ballard arent bad. Green Lake & Northgate are nice, but arent the safest places either. And welcome. the E30 Picnic will blow your mind away.

Edmonds/shoreline is a good area, any house newer then 20yrs old and bigger then 1500sqft is going to ask a premium though, what budget are you looking at?

Kings Schools in Shoreline is one of the better schools in the area, its pricy, but they have some of the best teachers.

It all depends on how close to downtown you want to be. Downtown, it's expensive. I've got friends who live in Greenlake and they're paying 2100 for a 2 bedroom townhome to rent. My wife and I live up north in Everett and it's about 1300 for a nice 2 bedroom apartment. I grew up out in Kent, Covington, Maple Valley area (down south) and right now you can find a decent house for 200,000, and if you want a full acre lot you can find those in the mid 300,000 range with a 3 bedroom, 3 car garage house. Monroe itself is cheap, but it's somewhat far from seattle, so like I said, depends on the details of how close to campus you're looking to live, and some of your other priorities. Up north, Mukilteo has a great school district, but it's an expensive area, and there are shady areas around it in south everett.

It's beautiful here in the Summer. It's the other seasons that takes some getting used to.
