What is the "E30" of motorcycles?

Looking to get a DD motorcycle. Looking for something fun, cheap, and has an extensive support base like the E30. What do you guys think is the E30 of the motorcycle world?

    70's honda cb750

cult following, massive amount of parts, relatively cheap to get, easy to work on, and there are a ton of them.

      This.

I'd throw 70-80s Yamaha XS650s in there too.

the SV650 is like the 318is while the SV1000 is like the 325is
That's if you like V-twins. I like the idea of instant torque and I don't have to reem it like the 4cyl bikes.

If you wan't sporty then the r6 would be one of the best. Not as expensive to mod like the cbr and I would say its s tep above the GSXR.

If someone told me to pick any bike for daily use, it would be a Buell XB 12. Look sick and handle awesome in the urbs. (although this has nothing to do with your question)

              Does not compute.

              E30 stands alone.

I don't think there is one. Just get the best bike you can afford. You will not regret it.
I want a nice set of smoked MHW's (I know, get it line)

On the same topic, how would you consider this bike as the "e30 of bikes"? This would be the bike I would want as my first bike... just have to pull the trigger.

Kawasaki ZX-6e/early ZZR-600 sport-tourer (1990s -2004). Kind of a Swiss Army bike, it's stone reliable and does pretty much everything pretty well.

Bear in mid there's more to the E30 than what I said in the OP, including styling and performance. Try to factor that in.
Also note, this isn't my first bike, I just want something that I'll be able to make my own like I can with my E30.

Thanks for all the comments guys. Keep em coming.

I've never owned a bike but I believe in the performance category of these things, anything will be a lot since it's a bike. With any bike you can take the trim off (which is what my preference is look wise, a naked bike) like the picture I posted. I LOVE the style of that interceptor too. Something about the 80's for me, it seemed like most manufacturers' styling were ahead of their time.

I think like most people say your best bet would be 80's or earlier since they may be simpler and easier to work on, but I've never owned one so I'm unsure.

I would actually peg it at a little newer at a 95-98 CBR 600 F3. Carb'd, strong honda 4-banger with enough go to keep up with many newer bikes and good handling. Can be had for a decent price too.
Oh yeah, they're fucking sweet looking too. Especially the Smokin' Joes edition.

I'd just go with a ninja, or any Honda cb. Maybe make it into a cafe racer but not comfortable for daily driving.
