Yeah, don't do it. Sketchy ad = sketchy owner = sketchy car. Lots of things said with no explanation and passed off as good selling points. Your e30 looks to be much nicer than that e36 is.88 325is - S52 powered

Keep the E30. Save up and obtain E36 M3 so you can have both.1989 325i - 2.7i, Holset H1C, 60lb injectors, whodwho MS-PNP.

Keep the e30.
Go drive an e36 and get a feel for them. They handle nice, but the interiors (other than the seats) are pretty poor if not taken very good care of. Door panels fall off, squeaks and rattles are very common, headliners suck, etc...2007 Range Rover Sport S/CComment

Your e30 is gorgeous, just trade for a clean 4 door e30 if you want more doors.~ Puch Cafe. ~ Do business? feedback ~ Check out my leather company ~

^ this. PLus like you said, for $2500 or less you can have a complete S52 swap done and you now own a car much quicker than that e36. With money saved, buy brakes and suspension and you now have a better handling car that's worth more than that e36. win win winComment

What you need is an S50/S52 e30, period!!!Originally posted by blunttechAlways Always go for the reach around if there is an optionComment

OP I have had the same thought many times. I've almost traded my E30 twice for an E36 M3. In the end I've always decided to keep my E30.
First, fuck that E36. When you buy a used BMW, you buy the previous owner's stewardship. Don't buy anything from that guy. The pics and add description are enough info to run away. Run far!
Second, last year I bought an E36 M3 sedan and sorted it for a friend. It was a 185k mile car with cooling system upgrades and coilovers. The interior panels on the sedan dont come off like the Coupe's, but the headliner and seat bolsters were shot. It also needed control arms, RTAB's, wheel bearings, a secondary air pump, and drive shaft. Most E30's will need that kind of work, but the parts are more expensive. I bought the car for $5500 and spent at least another $3k sorting it. There is no such thing as a $6k M3, you can buy one for $6k and spend $4k sorting it, or you can buy one for $8-10k that's been done.
Last, an Estoril M3 sedan is the shit. If I were to get one, Estoril / dove would be my first choice. Your E30 is a desirable color combo too. If you want to go the E36 route, sort it and sell it outright. You'll make more money. Fuck that E36 in your post. That car needs to be put to rest and the seller needs to never own a BMW again!JOY IS AN E30...

I love my E30 but I found a really great deal on a E36 M3. I have all ways loved M3's Yea swapping a S52 in a E30 it would be faster but with both of them being 4 door the E36 is bigger and has dual climate control. I would sell your E30 and find a well taken care of M3. I got lucky and the car I am getting was owned buy a few BMW enthusiasts.Comment

OP, do some work to your E30, give it some love, and you wouldn't want to sell it.
You've got a pretty solid starting point for a nice car, one that doesn't even need a lot of cash thrown at it.
Start with doing a thorough go-over on your suspension.
