What's the crappiest job you've had?

Currently I do quality control during the night shift, about 8:30-4:30am. Get to sleep about 2.5 hours and then up for class. Done this job for almost a year and a half, same routine every single day, I feel a lot like a widget counter sometimes. Highlight of my day is driving the E30 home when I can listen to the car and enjoy empty roads.

    What's the crappiest job you've had/have?

Cleaning bathrooms when I was a busboy at a local restaurant. First job, 16 years old but had to have one if I wanted a car.

The Worst ive had to deal with is Solar city.
Every Tuesday was payday, and every week id worry i wouldn't get payed. Timecards would get misplaced and always on the phone will payroll made me look the fool. in the six months of employment with them i got stiffed 6 times, and had to wait 4 days for payment, causing overdraft fees a few times.

They would always give me shit about my hair, and if i wore makeup to work oh god.
Yet when i asked them for a company dress code handbook, I was told "dont worry do what we say". Once it was known I was a lesbian they made my life living hell, making me work with the Second in command, just so if i screwed up id be gone, well 3 months later, for no reason the day after Christmas i was "let go"

Lol that sucks. What's even worse is that it's legal too.
My last job it distinctively says you can't have Untrimmed beards, Mohawks, high lighter colored hair, and some other obvious but wierd stuff.

Job before that, a Muslim coworker (after over a year with the company) almost got fired because she wears the veil/headdress religiously. Headwear is noted as illegal in the book, bu company logo hats aren't, so they made her wear a company cap OVER her veil lol. So silly.

        /end thread derail.

I haven't really had a cruddy job, but my first job working at a gas station they would make you end the 6 hour shift at 11:55pm and have you start 6:00am the next day so you can't get same day overtime (when you overlap days).

          Never had a crappy job.

Did construction for a bit with my brother in New Mexico. Loved that.

Kroger was a good place to work. Had crappy days, but once I nagged my way off the front end and into produce, it was pie. Pulled 6 years of that from age 15 to 21.

Valeting at a BMW dealer for a year. Wasn't bad either.

Now managing parts at an indie euro shop. Not bad, again, but still has it's days. Every job has it's days though.

I'm pretty picky about where I work, and thus far I haven't HAD to work anywhere I didn't want to.

Been pretty blessed. Worse job I have had was working for my father when I was too young to do anything other than clean the shop and sweep the floors. Once I was old enough to do graphic work the job got much more interesting.

I worked at Lowes in college. It had some really shitty times, but most of the time was spent dicking around my department playing pranks on people or hanging out with "preferred customers"

Worst jobs were being a dishwasher at a greek restaurant, oily and greasy pans, and also canvassing neighborhoods for window estimates. Both were in high school and I have since graduated from the crappy job era!

I used to do hvac work in new york city, one job required 4 sets of 4inch chill water pipe to be insulated, each length about 300ft.....suspended in a ceiling. It got to the point where any exposed skin was duct tapped... oh man, the nightmares lol

Working on a steam ship in the gulf of mexico in the middle of summer. You'll never sweat so much in your entire life.

Servicing lighting systems in Albertsons, Publix, Walgreens and 7-11's around the west. Most of the breaker panels are not marked correctly, and they don't want banks of lights around the store going off and on while you figure it out. So, you work on the lights while they are live. Reach up to pull the cover off a fixture and BAM! Next thing you know you are laying on the floor with product all over the place smashed, and people all standing around looking down at you. Servicing HPS lights on a 80 ft billboard, working with one hand while balancing on a little platform was pretty bad too.

Sandblasting missile warheads for a government contracted company in July when I was about 18
all suited up with oxygen pumped in your suit but it had to be 150 in that suit. 90lb warhead fell on my foot and smashed that shit. I roughed it out but only lasted one summer there.

Gas station. And I can say it was the least amount of time I spent at a job; barely 2 weeks. I was working there to have some sort of income while I was waiting my transfer from Target (which seemed to take forever). As soon as I got the green light to start at the Orlando location, I didn't even bother going in to tell 7-Eleven I was done. Shit, I hated the place so much I didn't even bother picking up my last paycheck (which was a mere 56 dollars). For 8 dollars an hour, they had me doing a ton of bitch work; cleaning the counters, glass, gas pumps, restrooms, you name it. The one thing that stood out the most was the bitch that I worked with that NEVER did anything except delegate work to others.

worst "payed job" was working in a dishroom. when i was 14 started at the local university dishroom, since i was in high school they let me work there before I was sixteen and could pay less than minimum wage. something like $5/hr until I was 18 and started waiting tables.

worst overall "job" (though it didn't pay) was surgery rotation in med school. 0430-1900 6 days a week w/ q4 call (so you work 30 hours straight every 4 days) all while paying $$ to be there and get bitched at non-stop by passive aggressive surgeons/residents. repeat every day x 10 weeks. awesome.

overall could be much much worse though and i'm just glad i'm not plowing fields for a cup full of rice while watching my family die of starvation. #'mericafuckya

I've been pretty blessed as well. I'd have to say one of the worst jobs were working for a foreigner and his Medical deliver company. He had this idea that all americans were dumb and lazy yet he never did anything but sit there and yell at everyone. My job consisted of delivering whatever a person needed that their insurance covered, to their home. Some homes were awesome, some homes were racist. This is texas.

One day I had a late delivery and I showed up to the gus house and had to change his med-bed. He was a severe diabetic and was on the way to losing his lower half of his body. His legs were the size of propane tanks. I used a cherry picker to lift him out the bed and he started going on about random shit he thought was complimenting. His exact words were "Oh man, your tall and strong. Do you play basketball? you people love basketball" I replied no and asked what he meant by "you people" he replied "oh you know, you blacks or afrcans. whatever the fuck. You guys love baketball. If you don't play that's a shame. I could imagine you being very good at it. Just think, your parents picked cotton for you not to play sports? that's silly."
I replied that my parents didn't pick cotton. He said "sure they did. They probably still do. you just don't know it. By the way do you want anything to drink? all we have is water and coke. Sorry, no grape soda."
I then left him on the lift and brought him his disassembled bed. MY boss called me yelling about all types of shit totally disrespecting me so I reported him and his company as he has been illegally charging peoples insurance for medical items they never had nor did he offer. For example, this one lady asked me to bring her an oxegen tank. When I got to her house she showed me the bill her insurance got and its printed on her medicare summary that she has had a medical bed, wheel chair, lift, and o2 machine for the past 2 years totalling over $160k for those two years. I was outraged. Left that day and told my boss "Go back to india, and by the way... I'm reporting you"

He sold his business the very next week as medicare began an audit. Fuck that guy.

                            /rant... shit.

UPS. I started with high hopes of working my way up like everyone else. Was hoping to work in the large hub in Columbus. Instead I was sent to the middle of the country to a hub with like 12 people. All fat disgusting, rude hill billies that did nothing but yell at me to work faster and make fun of me. I had to unload the semis and was working 3am to 9ish am. Was in school at the time and couldn't make my morning classes. I stayed for two days, fuck that place. Been fairly blessed with enjoyable jobs since. I don't make a ton but I love what I do and make plenty to live on for now.
