I'm talking the "current" emo trend with the shit bands like Sunny Day Real Estate, At the Drive-in, etc. This shit seems to be morphing back into new wave, or even worse - disco. I'm being serious, listen to a "killers" record, that's disco music. Listen to Muse, they're turning into Queen. Back to the Killers, they even *look* like Queen with the Freddie Mercury wannabe lead singer & Brian May wannabe guitarist.

I don't get it. I actually don't get all the kids that are following a trend that started about 1999, and died about 2002. Seriously, wtf?

Why would you want to look like that? I am not trying to be a dick here, but I seriously do not get it. "Emo" looking kids get pissed off (emotional) when people say they look like retarded waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffless; because they do. How does one wake up in the morning, look themselves in the mirror, and decide to go through all the trouble that it is to color your hair, fuck up your hair cut, rip your clothes, go buy studs and whatever else, wear pants that cut off circulation to your nuts, etc.

Who is going to hire one of these "tredy" emo kids to work for them? I would turn them away instantly. I don't need some kid who is trying to "figure life out" or whatever else who aparently has the lack of self respect to disfigure themselves with this shit.

What is funny is that these guys would see me and make some comment about the way I dress. Fair enough. But I find it kinda funny, and sad. I play golf - it's what I do. And I work in a professional environment. So these two things force me to not be "emo" (not that I would be anyway). When I go to class, I wake up in the morning, put on the same pair of flip flops everyday, put on a pair of cargo shorts, and a polo, and walk out the door. It takes me 10 minutes in one store to buy my clothes, and it takes me 15 minutes to shit, shower, shave, and dress myself tops every morning. Plus i don't look like a reject, nor do I feel like one. I just don't see the point in putting so much effort into being "emo" and showing society that you're just bassically a misfit trying to send some sort of strange signal to the world. Different strokes I guess, but I serious don't get it.

I'm just going to toss my .02 in here because I was in high school when the "emo" image started becoming popular. It's honestly nothing new, like someone else said already. The anti-social, deep, depressed people have been around for ages, they've only changed their looks with the music. "Emo" is more an image than a way of life. High Schoolers are most susceptible to fads and most concerned about their image because they are growing immensely from an emotional standpoint during those years. That's why these kids are taking it so far.

Secondly, the music they listen to is basically poor attempts at copying good Indie, Hardcore, Metal etc. A perfect example is Hawthorne Heights. They got signed to a big label before they had an EP out just because they had “the look” and “the sound” that was becoming popular. If you’ve ever listened to them and actually listened to the lyrics you can tell how trendy they are. But again, bad music that imitates good music has been around for ages. When people force current trends in to music you will always have shitty bands form to get their fifteen minutes then fade away. Enter 80’s hair bands…

Lastly, to the thread starter, you seriously have issues that need attending to. I thought it was a joke when I started reading this but seeing that you're serious I think you need to deal with your underlying problems. Why does it bother you so much that some kids wear tighter pants and have a different hair style then you did when you were in high school? I never thought I would say this to someone my elder but seriously, grow the fuck up.

I was at the mall today. I walked into a chicks only store and proceeded to pick out a pair of jeans. Apparently I'm a size 2.

I went to try on the jeans and found out my ass is ghetto huge. One of the employees said I looked better in them than she did. I said thanks and asked for my $10 gift card for trying on the jeans.

Now nothing in the store is under $10 obviously.... except for the 25cent candy at the cash register.

I walked out with a bag filled with candy :p

Yes, and Hawthorne Heights is gay.

i see no difference between this and discriminating against someone for the color of their skin or their sexual orientation, your an ignorant fuck who needs to grow up and accept people the way they are

That was almost well twisted - but he's not whining - he's completely bagging on them for what he perceives them to be. At least to me, those are two different things.

I think this is very, very different then discriminating against someone for the color of their skin or their sexual orientation. It's a choice. A person has no control over what their natural skin color is, but they can try and make it whatever they want I guess. And some people have no choice about their sexual orientation apparently, although I don't fully understand that argument or how that exactly works. People who dress "emo" or whatever are making a concious decision to be the way they are, so at that point they should be able to handle the consequences of their decisions. I understand the non-conformist nature of the whole thing, but clearly most "emo" people get all "emo" about it when they get questioned. If someone wants to go against the grain and be different, then accept the consequences and don't defend it. They need to honestly, deep down, not give a fuck about other peoples thoughts.

It should be required to watch "SLC Punk" before someone is allowed to go "emo".

i knew when i typed it that comparing it to discriminating against race or sexual preference was a bit of a stretch, but if you look at it solely as accepting people for the way they are, then it is similar

the way i see it, discrimination in anyway, for any reason, is ignorant
i understand that he wasnt being emo or whining, but neither was i
