I love when people break out the SSB at during parties, and you get to pwn teh nubz, until that one guy comes through that's an even match and you have a drunken 10 stock showdown after which you become either best friends or mortal enemies.

I need to get an N64 controller that plugs into USB!

I hate playing emulated console games with a keyboard.

One of my buddies had an N64 to USB converter. It was pretty cool, he got it off eBay.

I have a program that allows me to use my PS3 controller. Only issue is the button layout, but I can change that as I play each game.

Wow I've never seen an adapter/converter before. I knew they sell modified console controllers because I was looking for an NES one a few years ago.

                  Sweet project.

My version of a portable N64 is my Sony Ericsson Xperia Play with an N64 emulator. Also have SNES, GBA, and PSX emulation on it. Pretty cool little device.

I picked up an NES usb controller a little bit ago for like 5 bucks in a sale bin somewhere. Works great for the older console emulators. i also have a usb ps3 controller for mapping out n64 games. Looking to grab the standard blutooth version for some wires free gaming.

Anyway OP that really is a pretty well laid out system for your first portable. How heavy is it and do you deal with much fatigue? Looks to be a little thick to be comfortable to play for long stretches.

Keep us posted with more tweaks!

ya ive had the n64 emulator on my motorola atrix but it doesnt compare to having the feel of the controller or n64 buttons as i was just touching a touch screen to press buttons.

ya, if you have a bluetooth dongle for ur PC you can use a program to sync ur ps3 controller to your computer so u can use it wirelessly. its kinda nice. i agree tho the button layout is a bit strange feeling when playing n64 emulator with the ps3 controller.

also ya it is a bit thick at 2.5" thick but i find myself resting it on my lap while i play and it actually fits my hands fairly well. Only problem i found was its a bit uncomfortable to use the d-pad and L button at the same time as it positions my hands in an awkward spot.

once i get the e28 back on the road ill start buying stuff to either build another n64 portable(already made a new parts list) or ill build a dreamcast portable. Will use a smaller better case too. The list for the n64 portable i did multiple options which creates a range of total costs. from $167-$327(just for parts) depending on features i decide i might want. like a 3ds joystick instead of the standard joystick which would save space and allow a smaller portable and a custom built controller board thats 1/3 the size of the original and has easier to wire to contacts for the memory pak/rumble pak. When i decide/start to build it i will make sure to create a new thread here and update it along side my made-by-bacteria one since there seems to be an interest in this sorta thing :)

It allows you to connect a Playstation controller to an Android device which is pretty cool!

Cool project. I'd like to do this for a Nintendo. I bet you could do it with a mini PC and an emulator and it would still be really small. Heck, even something like the PS controller above connected to it would be slick.

                          Nice work man!
