Eh, it's an effective ad for the message they want to push. Is it over the line, no? Why, mostly because people get too easily bent out of shape over little things and need an excuse to squawk. After all there is an up side, the guy didn't kill himself, went inside and went to sleep after a nice refreshing sit down in his garage sauna, right?

Advertisers are pushing the envelope further and further to get noticed. I'ts no big surprise that this happened.

Give it a few years and I'm sure that some other advertising company will find a way to make the joke work.

I had a brother who tried this method of suicide several years ago too. He failed at it and was saved by some random drivers who saw him on the side of the road (since we didnt' have a garage at my parents' place). He tried desperately to end his life until he finally was successful two years ago this past weekend. I was upset, but then quickly recalled how unhappy he was for many years (even as kids). Ultimately it was the only way he saw to get the happiness he always wanted. Clearly he was not for this world....at least he's in a happier place, that's all I can ask for him (to be happy).

But back to the commercial, I'm not hurt by it. i think it's quite effective and see no harm personally. Death is just another part of life.

i found it fine i mean we can show all this T and A on TV but someone makes a prod at suicide and its a huge deal? i think society is full of a bunch waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffless who are afraid and sheltered.

but im also for letting people who sit on the death penalty fight to the death and pay for their time in jail by putting it on HBO.

Wow that suicide note was well preserved and the tear pattern appeared almost too well formed. All of the letters were smeared in the same direction. When reading a note of this caliber I would find that most people who were emotionally affected by it would move their heads some and displace the droplets of tears. It seems fabricated to me. The untrained eye might find that believable.

It was an attempt at something different, but I agree that it went too far. Its a social and cultural taboo to portray suicide in this kind of a context. They might as well have done a commercial around a rape, or physical child abuse or neglect. These all just conjure up disgust and would do little to engender appeal to a product.
