What ever happened to the art of haggling?

Other than R3v of course. We all know E30 owners still know the down and dirty on getting good prices.

That said, it seems most of Craigslist is EXTREMELY lazy.

I'm trying to sell a 4 wheeler right now, and every other e-mail is the same. "Whats the lowest price you'll take?"

My response, "While I am considering offers, the price is $1000".

Do these people really think I am just going to offer it up at my rock bottom price without at least a reach around first? For fucks sake if I wanted to just give it up for cheap without even putting up a fight then I guess I would have listed it lower.

    Damn kids.

    /Rant.

I think I'm just going to switch to a standard response of, "cash talks, bullshit walks". And see where we end up.

I agree, i see this a lot on some facebook garage sale pages. people post an item for 100 and then someone asks, whats the bottom and they reply with 80 or something. i liked the days where cash talks or you say ill buy it right now if ya take 70! youre right, the art is gone :(

My grandfather always told me, whoever states a price first loses.

I've taken that to heart when negotiating pricing, it usually pays off. It's just stupid to list an asking price, then list a lower one when someone asks you to on the internet. Come here, to my face with cash in hand and we will discuss pricing.

Raise your price by 50% and they can haggle you down. They think they stole it and you doubled your money. "But I have cash." Like I take credit cards...

I ignore those emails/texts. Sometimes I want to screw with them and tell them they can have it for $20... if they meet me in 2 minutes!

Had a friend tell me when buying cars, if he doesn't have quite the asking price on hand, he'll take a picture of how much money he has in his bank account (without revealing any personal info, of course) and then he'll send it to the person and tell them he can pay them that much tomorrow. Tends to work quite well...

I use that approach frequently, however, I have cash in hand and I'm ready to jump if you name a price that I like.

Why is it so offensive to your delicate sensibilities? You know what your bottom dollar is, fucking tell them and get it sold.

Or go cry on the Internet like a cum guzzling bitch.

this. Ive sold a lot of things on craigslist including motor vehicles of all kinds. Before I start I always decide what I have to get for whatever I am selling so I can sleep at night. Then I take that price, add a few hundred or whatever and then sell it (assuming ill get ground on for the extra on top)

When Im buying things I usually ask the seller what they have to have for it. That question leaves it entirely open to the seller and doesnt have a lowest price feel.
