    Forza 4 Drivers' Challenge #21 - Vintage!

Since I'll basically be spending the next month at vintage races, I thought this challenge would be a good homage to the cars I'll be around each weekend. We will be racing at Tsukuba full this week, and our cars must be older than 1975, start in D class or below, and end up no higher than B class. This allows a large variety of options and will hopefully end up in some small+nimble vs. big+powerful match-ups. Good luck!

    Standings

    1) ELVA164 - 1:02.629
    2) craz azn - 1:02.725
    3) 1:03.095
    4) squidmaster - 1:04.663
    5) bmwguy325is - 1:04.680

Full track, it's short enough as it is!

Agreed! That's what I started running last night anyway. Very obvious which car I'm going to use for this (lancia stratos)

Good to know I'm not way off pace. I broke into the 1:02s, but it was a dirty lap. Might try an S14 swap. IIRC, the stock motor is faster at low power levels.

I'm also looking at the CSL as a possibility...

Isn't the Stratos kind of a pain to handle? I can't remember. In general, I'm not crazy about the way mid-engine cars handle in this game. They don't turn in well enough.

I've found light cars that can get on the power early yield consistently quick times.

Bigger, more powerful cars can also pull just as good times, but they're harder for me to be consistent with. The hairpins can be tough to nail. If you miss your braking point, you can lose your line, and the advantage the extra power gives you on the straights goes right out the window.

There are like 8 cars I wanna try for this challenge, I just have to wait for free time.

Blashphemy101, I felt I should point out that mid-engined cars in real life turn in less sharply than front-engined cars. Less weight on the front wheels means less grip at turn-in. The benefits of the arrangement are balance mid-corner, weight transfer side to side, and progressiveness in a slide.

I'm also a fan of the small-and-light school of thought. But I guess I'm a bit biased surrounded by the cars in the shop.

idk I drove the stratos, lotus, and ferrari. in the lotus and ferrari I was about .5s behind my times with the stratos. Personally it fit my driving style well.

I just realized that the car only had to start D class or below. I'm going to give it a shot with some other cars now, too!
