And I really wish I was kidding, but now that there's one locally, every bishes place has at least something from there. Worst case scenario it's a talking piece. Just know something about the London bus system or some shite.

repurposing is the new big trend. It can be girly (re:pinterest) but can also be manly. If you live in a rural area, head to some "estate sales" you can usually pick up farm equipment, old weird shit on the cheap. take it to your local quarter car wash, hose the shit down, some light sand paper to knock the rust down and some rattle can clear and youve got some great conversation pieces. Bonus points are usually awarded if you research what said part does or was used for. great conversation starters.

Now look, I am not evil. My loan officer said so.

Buy one of my manifolds and mount it on the wall. I also had a great idea to strip an m20 head then cut it the long way and drill a few of the exhaust holes through to mount it on the wall. Then bolt the manifold up to it with a turbo attached.

                    I am a rustic western/cabin/lodge kinda guy.

Old original maps of your area from 100+ years ago in a old weathered wood frame look great in a lot of places.... even with a more modern decor as contrast piece

I recommend putting a lot of stuffed dead animals all over your house. Girls love rustic hunters and a house full of quality taxidermy just screams provider. Maybe a few of those metal jaw traps and some hunting knives. Make the place smell "natural."

Fl318is is right on. Additionally, buy the nicest bed and bedding you can manage and wash your damn sheets way more than you want to. Boys are gross, and we are lucky most women aren't lesbians.

Furnish your place with items that make you feel comfortable and represent who you are. Don't be afraid of an eclectic mix. Pinterest is a great place to cruise for some ideas. You don't have to drop a mint to do it, but don't go to Ikea as a one-stop furnishing source.

Make it a place that expresses your persona and confidence. Matched sets are boring and show people you don't really care to put a lot of time into your space you relax in. Don't be afraid of colors or patterns but spend a little time 'chewing them over' before going crazy with them.

Furniture can be expensive, but quality items last longer and don't age aesthetically.

If you like contemporary/modern furniture, a good tuxedo sofa has clean lines and fits into a lot of environments and can last for decades. Accent seating can provide a good setting and add introduce some fun lines to the mix. Use a nice mix of materials. A lot of glass and metal looks cheap and cold.

Think of furnishing your place like you would dress to meet somebody important to you. You wouldn't go dressed like a slob, but also don't necessarily dress in a suit.

Keep the environment clean. When you're single, you never know when you might have somebody coming to your place. 10 minutes/day, and hour on a Saturday/Sunday keeps your place looking clean and tidy.

Yeah, I'm an industrial designer with 15 years of furniture/houseware design experience. It's a curse sometimes. Car enthusiast with an elevated sense of style and taste. My wife loves it, though. :)

8380 is a great suggestion, but any more ideas that are not car-related?

I just moved into a new bachelor pad myself after a 5 year marriage. I have been slowly collecting ideas off Thechive house threads and such. Also Tapiture search art or relevant categories.

One thing I plan on doing in my bedroom is an end grain accent wall. Probably behind the bed, stained end grains of various heights, makes for a call wall, reasonably cheap and I don't have to have "art" for that wall then. I am also considering one for one of my living rooms as well just not sure what type of accent material to use there as is has light hardwood and I don't want to clash.

Also consider using books (if you actuall read them it helps) on a unique book shelf or display method, bitches love guys that can read.

I am also into Maps I am working on a world map ide that is basically just drips of paint meticulously put around the canvas to make the continents, plus if it doesn't work it was fun project.

a really nice big clock can be cool too if the room works for a big clock to be in it, I'm looking for one for one of my living rooms as it has vaulted ceilings and would work well.
