I've used a couple different approaches to learning German, but I thought the Pimsleur discs were the best way to start. You can probably check the discs out from your library and just convert them to mp3. Learning vocabulary in German isn't too hard, but the grammar takes some adjusting to, and Pimsleur is good for that. To some extent, they sort of speak like Yoda, as far as how they arrange words in sentences. Then I would start reading German children's books or Der Spiegel online, to acquire more vocab.

These girls are everywhere here in the Bay Area too. They are just here to escape from their own boring households and basically party, so most of them are DTF.
Keep in mind they came all the way from Germany. They are way more interested in foreign guys, so speaking german with them is kind of a turn off.

My girl is a former Au Pair from Germany, this is what she told me.

I don't like to stereotype, but dating them is unfortunately a waste of time. You'll just end up a Sugar Daddy of sorts, unless of course you're just looking to get laid.

All of my roommates and a couple of friends are actually tied up with an au pair girl. I guess its just the kind of social circle you're in.
