I have a flourescent one from princess auto. I also have an old school bulb type lamp, but I use one of those flourescent screw in bulbs. Works great.

Flourescent is bomb, when you're working on somebody's suspension at three in the morning, and it's 40 degrees (or colder) outside, you can grip it to warm up your hands, and it's not too hot.Originally posted by Ryan StewartThe flourescent doesnt get hot, which is why I use them. They are also less likely to start a fire if I dropped them, which I have.Comment

haha, for sure! I remember changing the torsion bars and tranny mounts on my dart in the cold (talk about a bitch!), and being very thankful for the blazing heat of my light.Originally posted by e9nineNot only do the regular ones that heat up burn the shiet outta you, they most importantly serve as a heater when working in the cold

I got my dad a corless LED trouble light for christmas. It's pretty bright, and for the areas he needs it, a cord can be a hassle.
I've got a florescent one, it's annoying. Not a good light to work with. I far prefer my 500Watt halogen worklight.-Brandon

I'd pick up a flourescent one, but I don't think I've seen a cordless one.~ Go Canucks Go! ~

i just bought a flourescent one, but i also have an LED headlamp. Straps around your head and is directional, one of the better investment i've made.

I used that LED light a lot for under-dash work at the dealership, but other than that they are pretty worthless. Not enough light output, IMO. I prefer the corded flourescent drop lights.
This the best fucking light ever for engine work: http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item....re&dir=catalog'91 318is

The problem I've got with flourescent trouble lights is that it puts off a wierd light. I think incadescent is the way to go.-Brandon
