Latest welding project -- sheet metal organizer

At work we do sublimation (prints on metal). It just recently got very busy and we needed some better organization for the various sheet metal we stock. Gloss aluminum, matte aluminum, clear aluminum and gloss steel. The casters I used are from Northern Tool (great pricing).

    Front supports

    Capped

    Middle supports

    Tall supports

    Obligatory pic of welds

Made some spacers to keep everything spread out evenly while I welded the top slats together

    [/QUOTE]

We are going to be loading/unloading the sheet steel in from the skinnier end (see first pic) but we also want to be able to unload it from the fatter end so I made this stopper

    Down

    Up

Put on the handles (front & rear) You can also see that the other 2 top slats are now welded on

Here's the organizer w/ nothing in it

Here's what we do with the sheet aluminum/metal. It's called sublimation

These are prints we did for Cal-Poly and National Geographic. All of these prints are going to be framed in an anodized black aluminum frame. You can see the frame in the last 2 pics

I can get a quote for you guys interested in pricing. Would you want the anodized aluminum frame or just the print? I can also do wooden backs so it looks like it's floating on the wall. I don't really do the pricing so I'll talk to my dad who does all the pricing tomorrow at work

                    Interesting....that could definitely work out....

It's a pretty sweet process (and extremely durable). We did a bunch of shots that the Hubble Telescope took...wow...looks like another world out there. I'll post up some more pics tomorrow of the other prints we did.

I'll also get some pics of the sublimation press that I built awhile back and some in-process pics as well.

24/7 inside yes ;) It's not 100% UV stable but they do OK in constant sun. We have a few signs (Don't feed the birds) at a local restaurant on the beach. The sign sees constant sun all day and it hasn't faded much in the past ~2 years.

Thanks. It definitely does. It's nice having it portable...I can load it up in the parking lot!

Pricing ------ I didn't have a chance to get to it today. I'll get some general pricing for you guys tomorrow... 20"x40", 11"x17", etc.

Here's the heat press I built a year or so ago. It works like a champ....too bad it can't do full size sheets (48"x96") :|
