    Fwd, yawn.the turbo motors both get decent mpg, but vw gremlins do exist, the older the fewer places the ground can hide... I've had mixed experiences with dubs, some great, some horrible. Get a warrantee.

    But if it's for her to dd and not you, then who cares? Is it something she wants?

      its one of the cars on her list. what about golfs? same issues?

      VWs are just so cheap now (probably because of the issues people named here) so I figure if there is a diamond in VW's shitpile line up, I can grab it and she can have a semi modern euro car

        those are one of the only cars in their lineup I'd recommend.

        While the 2.5 5cyl may not be the most fuel efficient, they sure are robust and have oodles of tq for a car in that category.
        If it's got tits or tires, it's gonna cost ya!
