    Anyone here a Big brother/sister?

Looking into becoming one since I feel like I wanna connect more and have contact with little people

I know growing up can be hard when you don't have positive role-models,that's why I wanna commit my time and energy to a good cause. I finished HS, and uni, dont' smoke, nor drugs, and am always pushing myself to further upgrade myself both personally and professionally

My gf and I dont' have kids, and we don't really want any. She mostly, but that's another thread.

We live in a highly congested and expensive part of BC where there are many professionals and living costs are very high/

I have neices and nephews, most of whom I've lost contact with due to issues with my brothers (one died, the other has something up his butt and doesn't like me and the other makes babies all over Canaduh), but that's another thread

What say you? worthwhile? seems like a great cause and way to help in the positive developentof someone who otherwise might not end up fairing so well socially. I dont' have much money, but I do have the time.

    TIA
If it's got tits or tires, it's gonna cost ya!

Good on you for thinking of donating your time to aid in others.

I myself have thought about donating my time to something like Habitat for humanity. ( I have a son already, though your welcome to come take the sob for a weekend:))

I think its a good idea. If you can be a positive influence on a young kid with no father you might make a difference in his life
I thought about doing this when i was single but before i knew it i was married and had two sons of my own.

my younger sister is a 'big sister' (does that make sense?). Anyway, she loves it. Very rewarding and she has really grown from it as well as made a positive difference in a kids life. Pretty cool stuff.

I try to do whatever I can to help less fortunate. I was working in Long Beach last weekend at a Habitat for Humanity. Ive also tried to be a Big Brother, but my past record prevented it. They are pretty strict (down here at last) with who they allow. Ive changed my ways so I think I would be a good role model, but rules are rules. I help where I can.

My friend had a big brother growing up because he was an only child with a single mother and 25 years later he still talks to him. I have nieces and nephews whom I am very close with if it weren't for those little assholes I would probably be a big brother. I also am the eldest of 9 so I have to be around little people.

Also, can you please start a thread about the other grievances?

I was involved with BBBS for two years until the program I was involved in lost it's funding, then eventually the whole BBBS NW shut down just these past few months. I enjoyed it a lot, and would recommend it to anyone that is interested. You don't realized how big of an influence you really can be to someone.
