This was my first thought, we'd be looking at two halves of a truck driver.
Has to have a lot more stress and be a much bigger cable to cut ya in half due to failure than what's on that litte tow truck, and what the winch is capable of generating

The truck I used to operate had dual 15,000lb winches and 1/2" cable, besides the chain. While I agree you might not get cut in half, under full strain I'd hate to get hit by any of that gear.
I didn't say it would not kill you, just that it prolly won't dismember you or cut you in half like the movies. Just putting a jacket on the tensioned cable will stop it in its tracks if there is a failure

When my Alfa got rear ended and punted into a ditch, the tow truck driver thought he'd pull the car out from the front, despite the front of the car being well below ground level. In the end he broke the front crossmember off, and the cable broke. He was very lucky he wasn't hurt. I asked him to pull it out from the rear as he could hook onto the rear axle, but no, he knew better than I did. That was until is buddy came out with another truck and suggested he pull the car out from the rear.
Driver looks like he's just given up and is about to reevaluate his life.
Also is the guy who filmed/commented the owner? He doesn't seem too concerned :p
