Matt buy the bmw x5 3.0 do not buy 4.4 or 4.6 v8 P.O.S. Do not buy the xc or any volvo's those tranny's fail every 60.000 miles like clock work. Acura doesnt have good hp and do have issues as well ...transmission's. We work on these cars day in and out. Trust me on this one bro ;) All cars do have issue's but the x5 is by far the best out of these vehicle's to choose from. No audi's or VW suv's bro as well. Remember matt i work in a euro/import repair shop so we see these type of vehicles all the time.

Thanks guys for the replies! FYI we're hoping to keep the budget between 6k and 9k.

I went and looked at the MDX in person and am not a fan. It feels too Japanese if that makes sense. LOL.

I spent almost 4 years at a BMW independent shop so I know the 6cyl X5 > 8cyl. I found a 2001 with 122k that I really like locally. It's got a great maintanence history and nice Carfax report. Also has sport package and 4.4 20" wheels on it. Hopefully they still have it this weekend when we go out hunting!

Going car shopping this morning and possibly for the next few days as well.

Today we're looking at a Subaru Forester, Subaru Legacy, Volvo XC90, and a couple BMW X5s. All in the 2001 to 2005 range.

Wish me luck! (I hope they choose an X5).

                4th Gen 4Runner?

That's what I'm looking to pick up in V8 Sport trim. Should make a great tow rig that can do some light wheelin' as well.
