I am not sure where OP gets the idea that anyone would have sympathy for this guy, yea he was your neighbor and he was nice to you but he put everyone else in danger and f*cked up big time. And Im not saying it is wrong for you to feel bad for him because you personally knew him, hell I probably would have been the same... its human nature.

but to expect people outside of his "circle" to feel bad for him in the slightest is naive at best.

I guess my biggest gripe about this is how he handled his rough patch in his life.
There are 7 billion other people on this planet, you dont think a good number of them have problems? Most people man up and deal with their problems without risking other peoples lives and hurting their own family.

If my point still isnt getting across put yourself in the shoes of Zenglong Liu wife and tell me you would still have anywhere near the amount of sympathy for your neighbor.

    f*ck him

Total idiot. Per the OP, "My heart goes out to his wife, and his little daughter" is all the more reason that this guy is a damn fool for driving like that. When you are married with a kid, you need to give even more thought to your actions because they affect more than just you. If anything, stating that he had a daughter only makes him look even worse for what he did.

To launch a 7 series OVER the median, after tagging a semi, on that stretch of 880 is no small feat. He had to be doing at least 120. Even when there is little or no traffic there, I keep it under 70mph because it is twisty, hilly, inconsistently/poorly marked and I routinely see denizens of Oakland/Richmond demonstrating their driving prowess there. You know....busted up 1990's Buick on blown shocks, cut springs, 2% tint on the windshield going 90mph+ and weaving 3 lanes at a time.

There is NO excuse for that sort of driving. It is truly sad that a little girl is now fatherless, and an innocent life was taken. OP I am sorry that someone you knew is gone, I know how it feels and it sucks.

I wonder if the semi driver was white...we may be hearing from Al Sharpton if that's the case. We ALL Trayvon.

I'm not by any means condoning his behavior, which took the innocent life of another person.
Driving reckless makes him an idiot by all means.
That stretch of 880 is also a complete shit show, and whenever I'm going above the speed limit.
I *always* slow down there. They've been doing construction there for ages.
The lanes get narrow as fuck and there's a huge dip that would certainly cause you to lose control above 100mph.

I am simply alluding to the sadness of the event.
Yes, he was being an idiot that night, but it's still sad to hear about the death of someone you knew.
Even more so saddening with these completely avoidable circumstances.
Most of the sadness is for his little daughter in elementary school.

I think that we can all agree on that.

Why does the crazy shit always happen on 880? There was the thing a few years back where there was "deer meat" all over the highway, and then they figured out that it was some homeless dude that had tried to hold on to the back of a semi and got run over like 50 times. My wife drove past some chunks on the way to work, just before they shut the road down. Then there was the time that the 580 overpass melted and fell down into the 880/80/580 interchange. Then there's high speed fatalities like this one that happen (sadly) all too often. The road's cursed or something (or just poorly planned?).

            Fuck him.

Only reason I see some giving him a pass is. Because spotrs star. If this was someoe that had a similar car ad was an investment banker or trust fund brat, everyone would be on a fuck him band wagon. I don't like how people who play games for a living get some kind of special treatment because of it

To all the people upset at my words. As a profession I deal with accidents like this on a regular basis. I work the Oakland Bay Area freeways. I am familiar with this collision and what lead to it. When you have to tell a family member that they have lost a loved one to someone else's PISS POOR DECISIONS then come talk to me. When you arrive at a scene FIRST and have to tell someone they are going to be ok when its obvious the only thing holding them together is the car they are under then come talk to me. Until then I can give two phucks about that selfish man.

God forbid one of your family members are killed by someone's selfish actions. I wonder if you would be so forgiving...or does it not matter cause its someone else's son, father, uncle grandfather....I'm fucking disgusted.

Looks like your in the minority on this one....hope you never get that call in the middle of the night...bet you wouldn't be so fast to chastise a person who was upset at the person who KILLED your love one. Your mother, father, child!! Too personal?...it should be. Or would you be so fast to forgiveness? I doubt it.

That's the problem with this society. Everyone makes excuses for WHY people do the things they do instead of supporting the real victims. No one cares till it happens to THEM.

I do feel for the drivers family though. I can guarantee they are upset at his actions too. His decision destroyed 2 families.
