I worked for Infiniti when the 1st gen G35 Sedan hit the market. It was insanity, then the coupe hit.

Lots of fit and finish issues with the first models, if a sedan, stay away from what we called the "garagedoor" models, they were the ones with the trunk that had the retarded looking inlay where the logo and trunk button resided. In the coupes, the weight over the 350z was enough to notice, but were noticeably quieter road noise wise. Lots of tire compound issues also related to the noise issue, as listed above.

Personally, I would get a same production timeframe 1st gen M45 over a G sedan.

I've driven my cousins g35, I liked it. It's very torquey. It's just a little ugly up on the front end.

You know who the biggest douche bag drivers of all time are? GTO owners, every god damn one of them drive like assholes and feel like they have something to prove. G35 and 335i owners are up there as well...

Are you asking about just the coupes, or AWD also?

Coupe or sedan, but mostly coupe.

Thanks for all of the feedback guys. I did notice a cheap looking interior + road noise in the one I drove.

Not quite the same, but my dad's DD is an FX35. For a small SUV I think it's pretty decent, stands out from the crowd, sounds good, kinda mediocre interior, automatic can be a bit disappointing, and handles very, very well for what it is. Pretty quiet too, and has been reliable with the exception of seizing calipers and bad wheel bearings.

interior is cheap. window regulators go out constantly. i believe they were recalled for it on selected years.

Kinda quick but not really. I like the vq35. I like the sound too. For a sports car, they feel like a boat ( in stock form at least)

I have been thinking about one since you can get the Sedans with the 6 speed but I am gun shy because I think Nissan is pure junk nowadays

never drove it stock... bought it from some rich kid that did a bunch of stuff to it... needless to say, it was fun for about a day, then got over it and traded in for the 335i... I'm sure it was boring because it was an automatic, but still, road noise was terrible and it just seemed underpowered... sure was beautiful though... the PO added a turbo, then took it off, but I doubt it ruined anything... If it's what you want, I'd recommend looking to get a 37S imo...

Put in some time for Nissan, and I wouldn't buy anything new from them. They have more than their fair share of problems.

Timing chain guides, water pump's leaking into the oil (vq35's), auto tranny issues (mostly on Maxima's), manifold's crack (titans), rings siezing (newer 1.8l motors), cat's going bad and ruining engines (early 2000 model Altima 2.5's), trans cooler in radiator failing and destroying transmissions (XTerra and Pathfinders), CVT transmission's suck dick, Versa's eat evaporator's.

Yea, no model has a good rep with me.

Oh, and I would avoid the 3.7 models. Every time you remove the VVEL control unit, it MUST be replaced due to being preset from the factory. If you remove it, the ECM loses track of the position, and a new one must be installed. This was told to me at Nissan technical engine training, so there could be a way around it.... But at $1k a pop, It got me afraid of head gasket failures automatically starting out with a $2k pricetag for just those units. (1 per head).

That said, VVEL is freaking awesome, and the 370z is an incredible car to drive. Lightyears ahead of the 350z.

Friends family has both a 350/370z. I assume theyre equivalent to g35/37. 350 feels cheap, and the power is docile if anything. Now the 370 is a fun car. Torque drags you out of each gear and is just nice car. Now would I own one? Probably not.
