Need help turning my spare cluster into a clock

Well with valentine's day around the corner and my gf being gear head. I figured might as well make her a clock from my spare cluster (she had bought me a mopar hubcap clock for Christmas)
    But I need some help.

The clock part is easy, I'm going to gut the speedo and install a clock with recordable chime sound and make the chime my blow off valve or my engine starting... Something like that.

I'm also going to get a power brick adapter to be able to turn on the cluster lights via senor or simple switch.

Next I have rpm gauge, gas, and temp I'd like to somehow incorporate into this.

Any ideas for those? Figure temp gauge would be great to use somehow get it to work via air temp (like the obc) and have midpoint as like 70ish or so but I have no idea how to do that.

Perhaps trigger the rpm gauge based off sound somehow? This way it would Rev up when the chime would go off or just kinda bounce around if loud music was played... Might be too much to design in such a short period of time.. Granted.

Just talked to Greg, seems like a lot more work then i can do when it comes to the rest of the stuff. Any other ideas though are welcome!

Nvm think we worked out a circuit that will trigger a square generator circuit that will then trigger the tach so that's covered.

Still leaves gas gauge and temp gauge for something cool.

    Thanks guys.

Get a Euro 316 cluster. Already has a clock! Just make it run from a couple of AAs and done.

      Other doodads:

      Temp
      Humidity
and make the speedometer a calander, one hand to month, the other to day, and the odometer year.

There's no fun in that! And idk that would be super complex.

I ordered all the stuff to build this thing. Well see how it goes. Also gonna add some USB ports so she can charge her phone with it.

You're lucky I like you Steve!

So basically I've ordered all the parts to make the clock. I'll place the stock needles over the hour and min hands. The chime will be a turbo car launching

I'm wiring up the economy gauge and tach to a board which is used for getting lights to flash with music, in theory this should supply enough voltage to make the tach hit redline and the economy gauge dive down and both move with the sound of the car.

Bought a 12v power adapter to handle gauge lighting and USB port power (gutting and old car charger for the USB stuff) I'm also going to try to place a momentary switch behind the trip reset button to control the gauge lighting.

As for the other 2 gauges... Seems the work required is just a bit too much.

Oh in that case... Lol ass.

So waiting on parts. I've so far just modified the odo reset to be the lighting on off switch.

By no means is is perfect but it works. Best i could do with the parts I have.

So chime goes off and it's my car burning out.. Rpm gauge has its flaws but best it's gonna get.

Cool idea! Are you controlling the rpm through pwm or analog?

Don't let the sexist comments get you down on the build. But would be nice to not have to deal with them.....

                      Basically just assembled this guy

Then did a lot of testing to find a good place to send the output signal to the rpm board. Like I said it's not perfect but it works good enough.

Here is mostly assembled less the clock... Still waiting on needles. I also installed 2 USB ports so she can charge her devices.

And as for Steve.. Me and him go back and forth all the time. Love each other.

The sound isn't as bad as it sounds thru the phone. But I'm gonna work on using a better clip or maybe directly recording it from my phone to the chime box instead of using a mic.

                              Thanks guys.

I also picked up a 8aa battery holder and attached the same plug onto it that I use from the power brick. I figure if there is ever a power outage she can put some batteries in it and be able to charge her phone.
