In an ideal world, i'd support Mclaren BMW racing in Mclaren orange.

I'm just going to have to check out highlights on Speed later, or stay up tonight and watch it. I'm going to the mountain tomorrow, I cannot let 30 new inches of snow go untracked .

BMW is no longer the cream of the crop in any form of racing.

Nope, and it's too bad. But I heard that they're expected to get back into touring car racing (possibly DTM) with the new M3.

Not exactly. DTM isn't the DTM of the 80's. It's tube framed V8 sillhouette cars, basically German Nascar at this point. The series itself is actually in pretty bad shape. What BMW is getting back into however is the World Touring Car Championship, the WTCC. Right now they're running the E90 320i, they even have a homologation special out now for it in Europe - a limited production 3 series with a high reving, race built 4 cyl with extra bodywork.

Where have we seen that before?

for sure DTM has become boring. I went to the Nurburgring race last year and it wasnt all I had hoped it would be. Maybe it was because I made myself believe that watching Opels and Audis would be the same as people watched the M3s and 190 E in the 80s but it wasnt. I saw 2 exapmles of the 80s Merc DTM cars but not a single e30 M3. I was kinda bumed out about that but hey like Charlie said WTCC is were its at right now for BMW. And hopefully 10-20 years from now down the road, people will be drooling and dreaming over the e90 320i like we (or at least I do) over the e30 M3s.

Um, BMW isn't the cream of the crop in any racing? You know they won the WTCC, right?

Read about it in the March '06 Roundel? That's where I learned about it.
