    Grill Buying Advice

    Hey R3v,

So I just bought a house, and its time to upgrade from my hibachi grill that I used.

    Wants:

    Budget: ~500 or less.
    Burners: at least 3
Grilling area: at least 500 inches
    Fuel: Gas

I actually prefer charcoal, but for now I want a gas grill, and I will get a charcoal one after this.

What should I look for? Any brands to avoid? Or go for?

    Thanks R3v!

Webber stainless. Don't skimp now or you will regret it later.

Weber, but you could find used but good Jenn Air grills at that price point.

              I love me some BBQ.

Go with infrared if you can. I hadn't ever used it since I bought my current grill about 2 years ago but it is amazing. You can't cook things wrong on this thing. Pretty much everything just put it on the grill, flip it once and take it off when it looks done. Always juicy, even heat, no flare-ups. Thing works great.

Get something with as much stainless as possible, burners, grates, all surfaces.

I have worked a fair range of grills, weber are nice as you can replace any component.

I currently have a charbroil commercial all stainless with infrared. I am very happy with it, the added plates keep stuff from falling through (I cook shit on there that I should get a grill pan for like asparagus) which keeps everything below cleaner and helps with flair ups.

I used to be a charcoal person but as years went on I got lazier and lazier and gas it just too simple. Still nice to pull out a charcoal every so often and grill up that way.

Take a magnet with you to the store, a lot of the stainless steel is not actually stainless steel.

You want cast iron grates not stainless.

I got a Jenn Air from a friend, and it is great. 100% stainless and 100% awesome. 4 burners, side burner for your beans, and the back infra red thing. Ive done 200 burger cookouts on this thing and it is a beast. 5 years later the non-stainless burners inside are needing replacement, but that was my fault~ the cover I got for it shredded in about 2 years and I thought- stainless! Who cares!

Go with the egg if you want smoke, jenn if you want convenience/gas.
