8 channels of nascar with some digital packages and not one channel that plays WRC? If I had anything except basic cable, I'd be pissed.

That "8 channel" nascar deal is for the incars during the actual race. It's actually a neat package.Originally posted by Jordan325iC8 channels of nascar with some digital packages and not one channel that plays WRC? If I had anything except basic cable, I'd be pissed.
As for the WRC, their ratings were absolutely nonexistant in the US. The WRC is pushing more for their "WRC+" pay service on their website, and as such have cut back significantly on their television packages across the world. The US barely registers as a blip on their radar, and they probably didn't want to give speed a decent deal. Hence, it's dropped.

Turbos are allowed for the 2006 season.
That restart scenario- I dont know if that still goes on.
Loeb won Japan after mistakes made by Gronholm. He's now the most successfull rally driver ever to grace the sport in terms of wins, one more than the previous leader Sainz. Also now has a much higher ratio of wins to starts than either Sainz or McRae.
Unfortunately he'll never have the fan base of either Sainz or McRae I dont feel. There was just something about McRae absolutely on the ragged edge taking emormous chances thats gets the blood pumping in a certain manner that the clean precision driving of Loeb cannot match.
To say rallying is big in Ireland is a bit of an understatement. The Cork20 is on in a few weeks, one of Irelands oldest rallies based very close to where I live. We've got Marco Martin does a guest drive in Prodrive Impreza for the event. Cant wait to see this guy in action and I certainly cant wait to see him back in the WRC.
And we have the WRC coming here next year for the first time ever. Its going to be insane. The only thing preventing it in the past was the poor infrastructure. I'd imagine the whole of Ireland will decend on Sligo to watch the stages!!Comment

I love mcrae. My fav driver of all time is panizzi though in the silver peugot 206. The restart rules basiaclly let you restart the rally with the same car if fixable, but with a 5 minute penalty on the next day.Comment

Close. Super Rally restart rules allow the competitor to restart with a 5 minute penalty for every stage missed, not just a flat penalty of 5 minutes. Thankfully, WRC is dropping this system in '07 and going with some sort of bonus point system that I don't entirely understand. I never liked Super Rally, though...I thought it was crap that Loeb crashed at Monte Carlo, didn't finish the 2nd day, and still came back to take 2nd. Hopefully this new system will work in a more fair manner.
Oh, and I've got a torrent site for all forms of motorsports (WRC, F1, ALMS, etc.) that I'll toss on here when I get home, if you guys want. I'm at work and can't remember the URL, unfortunately.- Dustin
