    Rough stuff, RIP.
    Carpenter just lost it.

With the switch to the detuned Honda motors this year, they've removed traction control and taken away some rear wing, so the cars get a little more tail happy. Carpenter just lost the back end and stuffed it into the wall. I really don't know what Dana was doing, as he got involved in the wreck a good 8-9 seconds after Carpenter had come to a stop. They have incar from Scott Sharp where you can see him check up and almost come to a full stop, along with 2-3 other cars, Dana blows by them and into Carpenter.

Swing wild, brake later, don't apologize.

Yeah, had to wonder what Dana was thinking...it didn't even look like he bothered to slow down even though *supposedly* there was a yellow out on the course way before he collided.

I was thinking the same thing. Wasn't the yellow out for 6-8seconds prior to the wreck?

        RIP

It's already been confirmed that the warning system was functioning 100% and he had a yellow on his dash as well as out on the track.

          RISING EDGE

Let's drive fast and have fun.

Rookie mistake, sadly. He just was way over his head with these cars from what many are saying.

if thats the case... I don't think he should have been driving irl to begin with.

I think regardless of whether he was a rookie or not, you still have to know something to be driving such a "vehicle", and I'm sure safety is top priority.

Just sorry to see something like this happen, serious injury or death is an inherent risk when driving at such speeds.

He did run last season for a few races, IIRC.
In my humble opinion, I think he was either
                A) flat-footing it in hope to clear the spun out car (Carpenter?)
                B) flat-footing it because it was the first practice 'session' of the season

Hopefully not the latter, in either case, a sad story--and a video of it that will make you cringe
