    Hondatuning, the other side.

Friend of mine picked this up real cheap for a project car. Expecting flames on this one but, this car is actually solid, no rust, good shell. Just figured I'd share some progress, discuss:

car is getting a real flat black respray with a real paint gun.

b18a1 integra motor w/ cable J1 JDM trans. 4.40 final drive with phantom grip limited slip. Hasport EF mount kit, and shift linkage. Moroso valve cover, DC sport header with straight 2 1/4 exhaust.

what happens when people take transmissions apart and dont tighten bolts.

was an all motor car, and initial plans were for LS/vtec, but this motor will be turbo and probably be in the 12s.

quick underhood respray, worlds better than the red.

Looks like a project all right. Hondas can be cool. I have nothing against them.

This reminds me of something, kind of off topic, sorry but I saw someone with a Nissan 380 (or something like that) in an e30. Sorry really donesn't have anything to do with it but it claimed to get 480 hp, so there is always possibilities

EF + B18 = Fun civic. About what kind of numbers will that thing put out when you guys are done?

To be honest I'd love to have the cleanest imaginable EG with a fully built B18C1 someday. With 250-270 RWHP naturally aspirated, you can't go wrong.

I want a ride in it..... Last time I checked he said 1st and 2nd were worthless. He was discussing getting a different tranny (don't recall the spec) to get some taller gears. pocket rocket.

Couple of things, RWHP is hard to get on a honda :P
Also, ~300BHP out of an all motor GSR? Doesn't sound impossible, but hard to believe in a non racecar.

Back on topic, nice project car. I'm still desperately trying to get this damn CRX out of my hair, b16b in a sub 2k lb. car (driver, gas, everything) should be fast, if it ever runs

EDIT: Oh yeah, forgot to ask, personal thoughts on phantom grip? heard and read about them, thinking of trying out some stuff in a b16a delsol (debating whether it needs a snail or not :P)

250-275 whp is commonplace with K-series stuff.

Not too rare w/ b series but the extra displacement definately helps with the k's.

5th and reverse were gone because the shift mechanism was loose due to two missing bolts. I drove it from baltimore to clear spring (75 miles) in 4th gear (somewhere around 4000+ rpm just over 60 mph).

With the tires he has on it, it wont get traction in 1st or 2nd. Its real light, and p.o. gutted it. Its quick right now, faster than his 325is. Since its obd0, the motor should be the 130hp b18, but could be 140 hp from a 93 LS. Thats without the bolt ons. With just the turbo on 8psi should be at least 200 hp.

Hahaha. Wow my bad, WHP. Yep, possible and even documented. With all of the turbo-charged setups out there it impressed me even more. I love just about everything about this car.

That white eg is nice. Engine bay is soo clean. Would like to see a wire tuck in the ef, but that might be awhile. Two guys at my school like their hondas. One guy has an EG with a b16 vtec from a del sol Si. Other one just sold his 5th gen with b18b1 LS/vtec. Had civic type r pistons gsr head and hondata. Tuner supposedly saw around 187 whp.

i heard horrible things about the phantom grip lsd. I dont think it is a true lsd if i remember correctly. wears out parts that aren't supposed to wear out. i dont remember exactly who i remember telling me about this but it might be worth looking into.

Cool car though. i wouldn't mind a little civic as a fun race/project car!

Awesome. I love a well done Honda. I've always been a huge fan of JDM-styling and tasteful Japanese cars, so this should be interesting.

If I was to pick up a second car to mod, it would either be a Civic hatch:

or an Corolla AE-86, and go full-JDM style on either one.

I looked at the contraption on their website... There is a difference between that and a fully beefed up diff.

He says those trannies are easy to pull apart and they are cheap....

Im not a fan of the phantom grip. Not to sure about how useful it is either, but it may be working due to the wheel hop it had, yet no tendency to pull to one side. The J1 trans may be getting replaced when the turbo gets installed. The gears are very short and pretty much only good for NA drag cars. The usdm LS trans should be good for boost.

I think he is getting a new belhousing case to replace the chewed up one. Then I'm putting the transmission back together next weekend and putting it back on the motor. If there is time we might drop it back in.

I can't tell from the pic, did you get any work done on tucking the harness?
