    Drove a Subaru BR-Z today

Now I only drove it for a brief 10 minutes.
Here's my initial reaction, which is the only type of reaction I had time for.

    Getting in the car:
Seats hugged me nice and were comfortable. Driving position sits low and well, steering wheel is in a good spot. One can see the fender bulges, it's good to know right where the wheels are.

    Initial driving:
Steering and suspension is tight and quick, one might use the term "responsive". Car feels light. I like that it's not electric steering like the Mini (which I've driven a lot and am up in the air about) and seems to be a pretty quick lock to lock. Still on the factory tires though (I don't know what they are and I'm not going to just say 'Prius tires' because thats a horrible description) but the didn't have a ton of grip. Car would benefit from sticky tires. Gear changes are notchy and short you can really slam it through the gears (and not be worried about going 150mph in 5 seconds). Wish it was a nice floor hinged gas pedal because its not ideal positioning for heal and toes. Pretty good throttle response for blips and stuff

Ultimately, what I want to be good is (driving controls) and what I don't care about (how the buttons feeeeeeeel when you press them and stupid stuff like that) isn't the greatest. I want one and probably will buy one when they cost 5 grand. Then I'll add 30-50 torque points to its score and be happy.

Also I've been driving a Ford Ranger lately to skew my thoughts

I'd like to hear other peoples thoughts on the SubarutoyatascionBRZFRSGT86 mobile

I sell Subaru's. BRZ is an awesome car. I can't think of a car on the market for sale now that has the steering and nimbleness of the BRZ. There are cars that hide their weight well like a new S4, but the weight is still there. I like how the tires aren't too grippy so you can get a little tail happy coming out of not too fast corners. I think everything is aesthetically pleasing, inside and out. The only gripe I have is the lack of mid-range torque/power. Gotta keep the RPM's high and it'll scoot. Then again I like how you have to work the transmission and make sure you're revving that sucker out. Very enjoyable. It's a great car, period.

If I was in the market for a new car, it would be a BRZ/FR-S, hands down.

Great cars, and it's so awesome to see a RWD Japanese offering again with decent power and great looks.

I love driving the FR-S. My only gripe is that it's very underwhelming in the power department. It should have come turbocharged from the factory.

As a fun daily I kind of like that it doesn't have loads of power in tap. It's not fun when after two gear changes I'm going over 100, on the street that is. And same deal with the tires I guess since power is down, low speeds you can get the rear out a bit and it's fun

When I drove one I was surprised how similar it felt to an E30 albeit 20 years newer.

On paper 200hp looks decent, in reality they dyno at around 130-140whp iirc. That is stock e30 slow, and it makes sense why everyone feels that it's slow despite the "200hp".

Rode in one at autox last weekend, guy had suspension and 255 star specs. Thing gripped like a motherfucker and seemed fun, just as I said no powahh

Edit: googling it, it looks like I could be wrong about the dyno figure. That was hearsay from the friend whose car I rode in, so perhaps he was mistaken.

Yeah, but come on man, a car like that with the aftermarket it has, easily fixable.

Yeah I may have been wrong about that, but still the car feels like it needs another 50hp out of the box. I do like the car, but personally I got my miata fix a long time ago.

If they make a factory turbo or supercharged one, I'd be interested....if they solve whatever is causing motors to pop on track regardless of modification status.

I'm very very interested in seeing what Vorshlag will be asking for their LS swap kit.

I'd probably do an engine swap on one too. Sr20 probably would be my ideal motor. Keep it light, 4 cylinder, and probably easier to wrench on on the side of the road

If it had a more reasonable backseat (coupe reasonable) I'd probably be driving one right now.

I'm leaning towards the genesis coupe. Driven both like the Hyundai more.
