Don't know how to read that game. Is germany that much better of a rain playing team? Was the extra 27 hours of rest play that much into the game? I know we were playing for the draw but did it really mean that we had to play that horrible with that little possession?
Bradley needs to be out. Jermaine Jones originally plays defensive mid. Instead of having him play pure striker, at least offensive mid. It seems like he's too awkward to make a quick play in the box. Beckerman needs to play more like how he did during the Portugal game. I know they were playing in the rain but man did he and Bradley look minor league. Gonzalez was our defense, beyond our boy Howard!, in that game. If he wasn't there for some key clears, well shit, so I hope he keeps it up for the Belgium game.
The draw formation can't be repeated. That was like a 4-3-2-1. 4-2-3-1 more like it. We were giving them some decent pressure but then leaving huge gaps in the center and leaving some huge play makers, (who isn't on that team?) to do their thing, with a simple pass.
We can do this with belgium. Just fill up the gaps and figure out who can shoot and get some chemistry down in both boxes.

Brazil v Chile...I think Brazil squeezes by this game.
Then Colombia v Uruguay w/out Suarez. I like our chances!
Was watching the Brasil game with a bunch of Brasilians and they were some of the nicest people! That was a nail biter for sure.

The US has no rhythm when they play. They don't have a style, and they really don't know what their teammates are doing. They have no defensive rotation to speak of (they never know who is marking who), and their attack and recovery seems to be entirely abstract. It's like they're playing zone defense, but not a match up zone, so they are letting the other team make their runs and have space going forward without picking up the attacking players and forcing them out of what they want to do.
That said, somehow the US is great at scramble defense. When the defense breaks down, which is has to when you aren't marking people or rotating defensively, they are surprisingly good at covering in front of the goal and impeding crosses. However, that isn't a strategy that can be successful in the long run against the top talent in the world. Belgium hasn't been entirely impressive as of yet, but they have the potential to be very good. The next game may be interesting, depending on who comes to play on either side.
As for today's games, I am actually glad Brazil won. Not because I like Brazil, but for the fact that, given the social unrest, it is likely a lot of people would have died in the ensuing riots. Chile definitely deserved the game though.88 325is - S52 powered

Consistency just isn't there and I defense has the ability to play tight. I'd see us as being like ghana with lurking with our back field and with quick counters just without the athleticism. I thought it was funny how the ESPN guys were saying we were the fittest team and had the extra hand because we had an extra week of training. Whatever that meant lol. But finesse in ball control with one touches and passes, and we could have more consistency with shot on goals or shot in goals! ;) Like I was saying some of the guys we're depending on are awkward but you don't beat Ghana or Portgual (im counting that as a win and you know it was) without some sort of style or rhythm. It doesn't always have to look pretty or German but we're in the world cup so it exists!
