First attempt last night was a high 1:52, good challenge, its fun to not worry about parts/tuning.

Idk if i have a secret, I don't use any assists and do manual w/clutch shifting.

The biggest thing is carrying as much speed through each corner as possible.

Go to the hotlaps and pick someone's ghost to race against, don't pick a super fast one but one that is a few seconds faster than you. Then just try to keep up, watch that person's line and see where they make mistakes. It really helps to see where someone else is faster.

I gotta pry the TV away from my family at some point tonight to try this...

So this was weird. The TV here has the most unusual AV plug arrangement I've ever seen; I was finally able to get video (kind of), but no audio. Try playing on mute sometime; it's really tough. Anyway, I thought spidertri had said he did a 1:42 so I was pretty freaked out and put in about 10 laps:

It says 1:50.673, I swear. This was the best picture I could get.

As a reference, I crest the hill after start/finish toward the left, cross pit out, brake just before the 2 marker, downshift 4-3, 3-2 while trail braking, coast through the first "apex" (I stay in the middle of the track pretty much), use a bit of brake to rotate the car and hard on the throttle through the second apex. Stay in third through the right-hander, braking around 2 again. Light braking for Turn 4, holding third down the whole straight up to braking for Turn 5. Hard on the brakes between 3 and 2, bit of rotation toward the apex. Feather the throttle to keep the car from pushing or getting loose, then hard on the throttle up the hill. Quick application of the brakes for Turn 6, rotating the car so the LF tire slides over the paint at the apex. Upshift at 74/75mph, then hard on the brakes just after the crest of the hill. Second gear down the corkscrew, making sure to stay as close to the center of the track as possible on the way out. Don't leave the track at 8, you'll get a dirty lap. Short shift to third due to the downhill. Get about a car-width from the right side of the track, quick application of the brakes to rotate the car and make sure to hit the apex of Turn 9. The car will push on corner exit, so be aware. Hard on the brakes for 10, I think at the 3 mark. Turn in a bit earlier than you think you need to; I at least found the apex to be earlier than expected due to compression after the apex. Quick upshift to fourth, brake halfway between 2 and 3 markers, second gear through the hairpin at like 42mph I think. Don't leave the track on the right side, instant dirty lap.

Hope that helps, it's all from memory so just a general guide to my approach!

Edit: Oh, try adding 2 or 3 psi to the tires for more responsiveness. Maybe 33/32 F/R. I left mine at 30/30 though.

Reassign the clutch to be the A button, makes shifting super easy.

I completely forgot to post my picture. Oh well, it was a 1:51.1xx. I got all fired up after watching the f1 race and forgot.
