Picked up a Galaxy S5 to replace the iPhone 5, tips/tricks to get the most out of it?

It's better...GF has the S5..she loves it..we always buy spare batteries too...never worry about running out of juice and having to look for plug to charge phone..just swap batteries

Battery life is legit, I start my phone usage at around 3:30am with a full charge go to about 5pm without recharging.

Battery life is pretty amazing actually. With moderate to heavy usage during the course of a day I'd have to charge my S3 before going somewhere at night so I'd have enough juice to not worry about it dying. With moderate usage I can charge my S5 every other night.

I've been thinking about going to the S5 side. Currently on an iPhone 5. How do you all like it who have made the switch? I'm due for an upgrade this September.

I switched from an iPhone 5 to a Galaxy S5. You may not really like it at first do it being different and having to learn the use of the phone all over. I just got mine and have a load to still about it but I do find that it performs better . I'm very happy with the S5.

Battery life on my s5 is my favourite thing about this phone. I don't use any power saving options, and I'm still usually between 40-50% by the time I go to bed.

My only issue with the phone was that the ring around the forward facing camera came loose and partially blocked the camera.

Also, buy a goddamn case if you don't have one. I dropped mine face down on the slab in my backyard after having the phone for 2 months, and it cost me $250 to get it replaced (and even that price was discounted because it was the first S5 he'd seen)

I like the active over the standard 5 for a few reasons.
1. I think the back is set up better to keep water from coming it. How its sert further in from the sides vs the 5 makes a hellllll of a lot more sense if you drop this thing into a puddle and don't want it to open up

2. The active has NO capacitive buttons. All 3 (multi task, home, back) a push type. No more accidentally hitting the back button when working on something or popping up multitask and accidentally killing an app you were working one.

3. Dedicated app launcher button on the volume rocker side. I know you can get in and tweak button layouts with roots but it is super convenient to have an extra button set to open two different apps with a short or long press. Specifically just to pop on a flashlight or get to the camera.



Working in the cellphone industry had been a blast to get these things a week or 2 ahead of time as "seed devices" to really tinker around and compare. Needless to say, apple has a long way to catch up. SO many people are switching over to android.

Meh... I think the difference in the regular S4 and its Active version was a bigger deal. The S5 is already IP67 rated, and the Active has the same IP67 certification that the regular Samsung Galaxy S5 has. Plus you have to use AT&T's network to get the S5 Active, and that's a sacrifice for many.

^^^ not necessarily...I have the at&t note 3 and I'm on straight talk...I had the S4 active also on straight talk..so you're not stuck using at&ts network at all...

With an AT&T (GSM) phone you're either going to be on AT&T's network or T-Mobile's.

There are so many other carries you can go with besides T-Mobile ore At&t...trust me, you can put any SIM card in these phones and work...for $45 a month with straight talk everything unlimited, you can't beat that

All LTE is gsm now so the phones are interchangeable between networks if unlocked. I'll get pictures at work to show you what i mean about the back designs.

See how much thicker the bezel is on the active? A lot better protection against drops/abrasion.
