    Honda Passport As a DD?

Does anyone know if the honda passport is a reliable car? My mom has a lilot that has performed fantastically for the last 200k miles, but apparently the passport is a rebadged Isuzu with a GM motor.

having worked as a Honda Tech for a few years i can tell you they're a BITCH to work on and finding parts can be more than a hassle since it has Honda, Isuzu and GM parts depending on the year, trim level and transmission type.

That being said, like most cars, they can be solid runners if taken care of...

If you are going to DD one and intend to do the maintenance yourself i'd recommend getting a shop manual for your specific model. It'll save you a few headaches.

Loved my 97 rodeo. Thing was a beast. Had some fun in the facelifted 98 that my friend had. Like MLP it is a bit of a hodgepodge for parts and fun trying to source the isuzu ones...

So consensus would be all in all not a bad purchase if you can wrench on it yourself?

I loved my passport. It had issues but overall was pretty fun.

I know the 98+ V6s had terrible oil consumption issues. Buddy bought one new and it was burning a quart every 500-1k miles at 60k. Ended up following a forum's recommendation and using shell rotella in it.. which helped some.

Well most of them was from myself being a teenager. For example the passenger windshield wiper wouldn't move, the 4x4 only worked with three wheels.. The power steering failed, the passenger door only opened from the inside.. Most of the problems could have been fixed if I wasn't so lazy back then. But it was my first car and still one of my favorites.

Yeah the door handles would fail but a super easy fix. As mentioned earlier the 97 is probably the best but it was a weird bridge between old and new. Parts were a bit harder to find.

Interesting. I really like the look of these vehicles. I think I may try to pull the trigger if the guy would just get back to me!

Elaborate. You can't just call it a piece of crap without explaining what about it is crappy.
