This is a first - my professor got fired

So yeah I go to my class this morning and my professor doesnt show up. 15 minutes into the class we all get up to leave and the econ secretary comes down, tells us our professor was let go, and that we will be updated soon.

WTF? There are two weeks left of class, and our final is the only thing left. Im kinda concerned as to how they are going to treat the rest of the year. Will my old professor still grade me? Im really pumped to learn a new professors testing procedures on a final exam, thatll be fun. Anyone ever have any experience with this? Im not to concerned as Ive gotten a solid 3.5 in the class, but Id hate to lose that just because my professor fucked up.

No TA's at my school, classes are only about 20 students. I cant decide if I should just say fuck it to the course or really bust my balls. The secretary said another econ professor would take over, and class would resume as normal next tuesday.

Yo, The situation is not your (the class') fault, so you shouldn't take the hit for it. They may just give the scheduled final that your old prof. prepared and that's it...

as far as preparing for that final (if that's what they do give you), then i dont know..

That's rather unusual.....this professor must've really got their ass in a sling to get the boot so suddenly. Normally administration would give them notice during the final month saying the end of the semester marks the beginning of their unemployment. I wouldn't worry about it too much, this is a situation that's completely out of your control. If they try to gouge you on a final exam or your final grade I would contest it with the dean.

He was only a visiting professor and was leaving at the end of the year anyway. He never really gave a damn so they probably were looking for an excuse to get him out of there.

They'll probably give you the scheduled final. I go to a smaller school with no TA's too, and I have a feeling that's what'd happen. Go shotgun a six-pack.

Well the sub teacher came in with our list of grades today. Basically they have a grade that is set, and anything that was due past last tuesday can only help us. I scored a 3.25, which is fine by me. I dont really feel like busting my balls taking a final when Ive got 4 other classes to worry about. I just need a 3.0 to maintain my scholarships. Booyeah. Class over.

I remember in high school two police walked into our class and I was like sh**, they know I'm high but they actually arrested our teacher. He had been banging some chick at the school. No surprise to any of us though, I guess this b*tch was just hating on him. Oakcliff, ghetto High School. It's too bad too, we used to cool the fk out in his class....

I know what you mean, my advisor just got arrested for child molestation/porn/crap, this is a week before they open classes for fall, in a very small nuke medicine program which he had been in charge of for 5 years. Kinda weird that he did that stuff, I had talked to him 2 days before he got arrested too, I always thought he was a little off.
