I feel like Bmw had to many chicks saying the e36 wasnt "cute enough" so they made the ugly POS known as the 318ti just my theory tho

A 318ti is hard to beat as a parts hauler I'm pretty sure it can hold at least 2 24v swaps in the hatch if you fold the rear seat down. I've never been impressed with the looks but I must say it's hella functional and it's got just enough e30 parts interchangeability that it's really starting to grow on me but a m52 powered 318ti is better than the m44 all day.

I think they're alright. Like a few have said I'd want one with the aluminum m52, and have it dressed up with some body styling pieces to try and reduce its disproportions.

              Random TI goodness

In the Chicago Area, there are a pair of White TI for sale that are very unusual, and highly desirable.

One is OBD1 age, the second is OBDII age, I don't know the exact years.

Both are white with half cages and race style seats and harnesses.

The first features a S50B30/5 speed with BBK and appropriate shocks, springs, sways, the second is S50B32 similarly set up. Both are very, very trackworthy and have been build by local expert Al Valenzo.

              They are both for sale.

These are Euro Motors for the record, and the cars are REALLY fast and fun, fully sorted, and I'm pretty sure absolutely rust free as they were track toys, not daily drivers.

I'd guess contact information is on Windy City BMW web pages in classified, but if not, PM me, and I can put you in touch if you're serious.

              Alex.

This is the one that peaked my interest in the 318ti.

                      Baddest TIs

One of the tuners, Alpina, AC Schnitzer or Hartge did a one-off V12 TI.
In Germany, someone did a very nice TI with S62. (see M3F classic Spencer Thread)

I googled quickly and didn't see the images of the V12 TI, but it was in all the mags. Guessing it was a show car of Schnitzers, much like the Z3 S62. Color was Silver.

                      NEVERMIND...

Racing Dynamics did it. Bugged me too much not to dig further.

I have one and think it is a neat little car. I autocross mine in STX class and while it is fun, it won't ever be competitive. You can't beat the 30+ mpg highway mileage, but it surely could use a lot more power to let it keep up in daily driving.

                        Now a 318ti
