Glad your son is OK. I'm happy to see that the car protected him well, being an e36 driver myself.

I wish him a speedy recovery and hopefully you put that parts car to good use! :)

Yup that's his car. I wish I could have made it. He actually won a trophy at that event.

I was disappointed that I was the only E30 there. Your son is good shit, I'm not saying that to be a suck-up either.

My neighbor sold us this rx8 for $2500. My son's been saving for a 350z or e46 m3 and had plan on buying one in a year. Since the accident he's been leaning toward an e36 m3 for obvious reasons. This beater rx8 will have to be his transition vehicle for the time being. It has some rust and will need brakes but other than that it drives well. It's a six speed and the MPG is a little under his current MPG. We've done our research on all the quirks with these rotaries so I think he'll be fine driving this for the next year.

As a former 350z owner, get the e46 when its time. Either way, I cant imagine what your going to be paying in insurance for either of those options.

In line with your video game comments.
Not a big gamer here: but they do seem to replicate the dynamics of cars pretty darned well. I have seen a few accidents where cruising at 70-80mph two people merge to the same lane, inevitably one jerks the wheel and over corrects to disasterous results. Games do a nice job of illustrating that when doing highway speeds, movements need to be tempered.

Seeing those pics of the car I cant help but think its a good thing he was in an e36 and not an e30.

                        how is he feeling today?

hopefully no major long term recovery...that's a knock and a half :-S

I vote the e46. Sucks he had to resort to the Mazda but atleast its a car! And a cheap one at that
