Fuck its still a year away. I'm usually very hesitant when it comes to going to the movies, especially how everything today is recycled, heavily product placed, shoot 'em up romantic comedy bullshit, but this I will see guaranteed

I'm pretty excited...just wish they could do one on Darth Revan or see Vader's campaign after he becomes mechanized and hunts the Jedi down. Luke is too boring of a character for me. In the books he's a monster badass but the actor portrays him as something extremely ordinary.

admittedly I read a lot of those books long ago but iirc the new republic is rather weak and in fact coruscant changes hands between the republic and the different admirals of the empire. The deathstar was destroyed along with the emperor and his (eclipse class) star destroyer but the empire is still alive and kicking. I remember Ysanne being one of those aforementioned and being a real bitch about it.

Disney is great at fucking up shit and in order to appeal to a "wider" audience can make things too bubbly imo. Example: I watched the animated series 'the clone wars' and it was just serious bad ass. I believe it's still on netflix and if you're a star wars fan it's something that you should watch. They ended that abruptly, without finishing a lot of the story arcs, right after Disney bought the rights to the franchise and immediately started another animated series taking place between the clone wars and the new hope called 'star wars rebels'. It's only in the first season so I'm giving it a chance but what a load of crap.

Okay and that lightsaber... I can see the functionality of it. When you're locked saber to saber, all you got to do to fuck up the other one is twist yours. Something like that, just use some imagination.

The old republic IMO is the best and most interesting era. The sith in that time are fucking badass. You have naga sadow, Darth bane, malgus, plagiues, light and dark Revan. The most interesting character after Episode 1 is just Darth Maul. I wish they would've continued with The Clone Wars. I really wanted to see how Maul's story finishes.

i loved the first movie when i was a little kid. i thought the second one was pretty good. after this, in my opinion, the rest were complete bullshit. a bunch of cuddly cute crap to entice parents to open purse strings for little snot nosed kids. totally ghey. i think the story(or at least the theory behind the story is fantastic) however, now would be a really good time to mention that george lucas absolutely SUCKS at dialog. i don't mean to spout blasphemy, but watching those movies is like watching 2 hours of choppy awkward retards converse back and forth about moon monkeys. i am so glad he sold this franchise to someone else. hopefully, they won't fuck it up as bad as he did.

They should have had Lucus direct it.

Haha best line in all of the six movies is when harrison ford goes off script. Do you think Disney is any different in sucking dick cheese out of parents though?

All's I know is, I was never into Star Trek until the new JJ Abrahms ones came along in all their epic badassedness. I'm beyond stoked to see what he does with Star Wars.

Lucas was done, there was no way he would direct it. He didn't want to hear how he royally destroyed the franchise with the prequels or the minute changes he made when the original trilogy went to dvd with new special effects any more from diehard fans. He created an infinitely expansive universe that he will always be known for, but one man's vision does not have to be the only vision. He was able to cash out with his deal with Disney, (selling Lucasfilm etc for over 4 billion) he still is a part of the production but I believe only as an advisor, and JJ obviously will consult with him.

I too have confidence in JJ Abrams, it's pretty insane that he's landed remakes for two of the biggest franchises with sequels. He's one of the most exciting directors and apparently an awesome dude to work for even if you're only an extra, he doesn't really have an ego, which is rare in hollywood.

After interstellar, I wish nolan took the job. Im feeling a bit iffy after seeing that lightsaber but still super excited. For once there can be some actual bad ass dialogue!

Yeah the lightsaber also has me questioning this a bit. It kinda looked like a low quality fan made lightsaber. I hope he pulls it off like he did with Star Trek.

did you guys ever consider that it's just a prop and the movie is still a year away from being finished? the SFX are probably not done yet.
