Looking for some suggestions/experience regarding a car purchase I'll be making in the near future. I've never bought anything other than old BMW's and bad ideas. My budget is $10-15k. I want a good highway car, pretty comfy and kinda fast. I would prefer a manual and I am looking for something that isn't going to depreciate too much. Must be somewhat interesting, I enjoy driving and don't want to be bored. I plan to hang onto whatever I buy for quite a while.
I've narrowed it down to the following:
e39 m5
b6 S4 (Avant ideally)
e46 m3
The e39 seems like the most car for the money at the moment, and I don't see them getting much cheaper than they are now. However, I've pretty much only owned e34's forever and it's a pretty similar car in most ways. I have driven one and I really like them, especially the interior.
For some reason I like the S4 even though it seems a little boring and has a Jetta interior.. Am I wrong?
What would you buy in this price-range? Don't say e30
