Interesting article about cheap rachets out there.

I was purchasing some new swivel head rachets that are non indexed so was doing some research first.

I did purchase the cheapie Duralast's 3 pack for 46 bucks. Why? I can walk to store in 20 minutes or less for free exchange no questions asked

Last Craftsman I purchased felt super cheap compared to the older raised panel socket and when I mentioned it they said as we know that all craftsman tools are made in China except their professional line which are made in Taiwan.

Wow, really? Almost all my Craftsman tools say made in the USA. Is this a recent thing? That's really disappointing if it's true.

According to wikipedia, it seems around 2010 is when it started with Apex Tool Group manufacturing the ratchets, wrenches and sockets for them.

When the hedgefund investor bought Sears-K-Mart he moved sourcing off shore.

When Sears fails and it will happen Craftsman line will continue to sell since Ace tools and a few other retail shops have picked them up as well.

Too bad all the Ace Hardware locations seem to be closing, which sucks because their hardware (nuts/bolts) selection is far superior to any other chain.

Ours are doing well. We have had stores remodel or build new buildings in the last 5 years. Granted that is in my local 15 miles or so.
