Anyone try a sensory deprivation tank?

Got my GF and myself a pass for her birthday. It's for an hour rest in one of these "pods".

Guess it's good for you to meditate in and rest
If it's got tits or tires, it's gonna cost ya!

No, but I once drove in a Prius.I would expect the experience to be similar. :)

I've done this once it's ether really relaxing or the most terrifying experience you have ever had if you overthink in there you start to wonder if this is what being lost in space is like or to be absolutely alone so if you have those fears don't do it

I did it many years ago. it was actually cool and really relaxing. The thing that really turns me off is you have no idea whats in that solution and is probably filthy and disgusting

Just don't take too many psychedelics and physically regress into a sub-simian creature.

Hopefully someone else here has seen Altered States.

I do it twice a month at the Float House and once you understand how to let go and relax it's a trip. It is a great was to unplug from the world.

The first time I got so relaxed it was like I hit the off switch for my brain. I blinked out, the music woke me up and I felt that 10 minutes have gone by, but it was over 60 minutes and I was super refreshed.

Try this. Get relaxed, focus on a point and then gently rotate your body. Since your brain has no reference point it will feel as if you are in a endless spin in space.

For those wondering about the water. There is 500lbs of Epsom salts in the water and they act as a natural disinfectant. The water is also filtered after each session to remove anything that may have been left behind.

I watch Joe Rogan's podcast regularly and he swears by them, had one built in his house by the Float Lab guys. I'd like to try one someday.

I do something similar during the summer months at work when on my lunch breaks. I leave the office for about 30-45 minutes and go out to my car (which is in the shade) and meditate/rest with the seat reclined, windows slightly open and my sunglasses on. I tell ya after mere minutes, it feels like I was literally light years away from where I was, working through complex problems and issues that would usually take hours to complete. It's strange because I'm able to have in-dept thought processes (how to do things in a step-by-step fashion and complete tasks).

I awake totally refreshed like I just slept an entire night. Feeling as though an entire day has gone by and my boss/co-workers are furious that I was gone so long. Just to return to everyone hardly noticing I went anywhere. Truly a trippy feeling I can only hope will be enhanced in the pod

It's those same salts that keep you buoyant. Funny how everyone has been led to believe that you NEED chlorine/various harmful chemicals to keep these public areas clean

I float pretty regularly as well, I find that it can be a bit difficult to completely let go and get to that totally centered state. I always come out completely rested and refreshed. My buddy actually owns his own float spa here in Albuquerque, so I can usually go over the allotted time a bit haha. I usually down a hash edible or two before hand though. But that's not everybody's cup of tea haha.

I too have always wanted to try this.

Richard Feynman was a big fan of these things. Apparently he practiced moving his consciousness around (we all typically think of our "center of thought" as being in the head). He started messing around and moving that perceived center around to his chest, arms, etc. Then he just moved it right outside of his body and was able to have "out of body" experiences after some practice. Anyway, it sounds pretty cool.

We were supposed to go last weekend for my GF's birthday, but she had her monthly "visitor" so we had to put it off till this or next weekend. I guess she doesn't take kindly to floating in her own vaginal discharge...go figure

Shifting my consciousness seems interesting, since I've never left this body since I was conceived. I recall my first memory in this body was while in my mothers uterus. it was warm, dark and not necessarily a nice or welcoming place...just there. I never felt the inclination to cry or make noise, just experienced feeling through emotion and light

I'll report back how my experience was.

You dont' need a tank, but I also use meditation to get there. You dont' get to leaving you body in one easy step (though many would like you to think it's that easy and will sell you products/services to "assist" you). All you really need is already in yourself

Here's a great cartoon to help in your process
