In college I had a 1981 Toyota Corolla Station Wagon. Great little car, but my borther one day backed it into a fence post, breaking out the tail light lenses on one side.
We had a roll or orange tire stickers (the stickers that go on the tread of new tires - dont ask me where it came from) and I used that to cover the amber section.
As for the red, i was working at a pizza place that had this red tape - heavier than masking tape, but not quite duct tape that they used to tape menus and receipts to boxes. I used that to cover the red section of the lens.
A new one was like $45 at the dealer and I was poor. From 10 feet, you could not tell of my ghetto rigged fix.
I presonally like the zip tie better than duct tape.Current Cars2014 M235i2009 R56 Cooper S1998 M31997 M3Comment

I have a buddy that used a chain to hold his alternator in and had a screw part connected to it so he could adjust the tension. This was on his old school gti. I'll see if I can find a pic. It worked really well and I think he left in like that for a while.sigpicComment

I drove 7 hours home from college with a plastic rear window held on by a roll of blue duct tape. Scotty saw the masterpiece that was my rear window.Back to my roots
