Splinter went from foot to fingernail??

I got a splinter in my foot from working on a palm tree about a month ago and I couldn't get it out with a needle or tweezers. Probably because I didn't bother removing it til a couple days later. Figured it would work itself out in a week or so, kept an eye on it to make sure I didn't get an infection.

So I forgot about the splinter, assumed it worked itself out without me knowing, until I was washing my hands and couldn't get a spot off. Realized it was the splinter I had a month ago! 99% sure it is because I would've felt a splinter work itself a couple mm's past the bed of my fingernail at a downward angle, and it looks just like the splinter!

I did some browsing but couldn't find a case like this, mostly just links saying how to remove one, but did read it can go through the bloodstream, into the brain, heart, lungs, etc. I'm hoping it'll attach itself to the fingernail and come out without me noticing.

I have really sensitive fingertips, after clipping my nails it feels like a nail on a chalkboard for the next few days touching most things. The friction of using a graphite pencil also drives me nuts, used a pen for math throughout school, teachers hated me lol. No way I wouldn't have felt a splinter go in that deep.

Have you guys ever had something like this happen?

Take a pic. I have an idea of what it might be, but I'm pretty damn sure it's not your splinter.

Yeah, thought so. I get those pretty frequently. Not sure what causes it, but it seems pretty harmless. It should grow out with the nail.

I guess it's called a splinter hemorrhage. Caused from a tiny damaged blood vessel. Lol at least it had the word splinter in it.

Unless you have a fungal infection. There is a type of nail bed fungus that looks like splinters under your nail, look it up and look at the symptoms of such a fungus on the sensitivity of your nails, you may have just figured out a medical issue you've had for years.

Interesting thanks, I've had the sensitivity since I was like 5. I'll make an appointment just in case.
