Been a guitar player for years (almost 20 of 'em). Picked up the bass some years back to step in for a buddies' band temporarily. I found it quite enjoyable to show up with just the bass and an amp instead of my usual guitar rig (half stack, half dozen odd pedals, 3 axes, bunch of cables)

The simplicity of it all was nice. Even better when you're holding it down with a drummer who can actually keep time!
