Would you Sell E30 to Lease New M3

thanks for that.
its odd to me that noone has said you can always get another E30 after. also its interesting everyone has simply focused on the total payments on the M3, and noone has thought for $15/ day I could spin around in a beast.
I am now certain I could not break the emotional bond I have with my E30.
and in a world based on logic and reason i would just trade-in my 2010 100k+ daily for the M3. simple reasons that car wont be worth anything in 3 years plus saves me from all the maintence costs on a 100k diesel.
but trying to keep wife happy means neglecting logic. -
Haha, it was worth a shot!
Anyway, your e30 is a beauty.Leave a comment:

Maybe just the poor in me speaking but I would not lease any car. Wife has a rule about cars? No comment...Leave a comment:

I have only leased a car once to get out from under a car payment. Traded the car in and padded that into the lease deal and when i turned it in everything went away. I needed to get a 4 wheel drive truck as i was living in Big Bear Lake . I couldn't buy it at the time. It actually felt like i went into enterprise rent a car and said let me rent a car for 3 years.

Never understood the extremely simplistic view that leasing is simply throwing money away. Whether or not you own or lease, the depreciation is going to take it's toll on the value of the vehicle over 3 years. It's not as simple as thinking because it's not yours at the end it's wasting money. By that rationale no one should buy new cars, and while that's probably the popular opinion on this forum I'd wager it has more to do with a lack of ability to purchase new rather than truly being the logical route.
Taking the OP's car as an example, at the end of a 3-year term the resale value of the vehicle is likely going to be somewhere around the purchase price minus the amount ($16,200) he's put into the lease, it's not going to only drop a few thousand dollars. One needs to also consider the serious tax savings on a lease vs. a purchase, you're only paying taxes on your payments unlike paying tax on the entire purchase. This will almost certainly yield a smaller loss incurred over a short period of time.
There's also the big benefit of having the option to walk away. If at the end of the 3 years you decide you don't like the vehicle, it's gone. There's no warranty headache, a very real concern with the price of fixing an M car. You simply hand over the keys and be on your way so long as you stuck to the terms and did not abuse it.Leave a comment:

No
Put the difference of what you spend versus what you would have spent with the M3 lease in the stock market or some other item like mutual fund and in 5 to 10 years you can easily have both.Leave a comment:

I would wait a few years to lease the m3. Even if you get a ballin discount, 16k for three years is still a lot. Leasing that same m3 in 5-6 years used is going to be way way cheaper, just because there are even newer m3's that come out. It's 62k for the base model, in 6 years you could probably buy a used one if you saved instead of leasing, then you would own that dope m3 instead of having the new car for three years then possibly regretting spending 16k for something that just got taken away from you, I'm sure if you leased it you would miss the crap out of it and wish you had the 16k to put towards one of them someday. I would enjoy the e30 for a few more years then get the dopest upgrade ever to keep, then say adios to the e30 game.Leave a comment:

Selling the e30 will always be one of those regrettable things you do in life.Leave a comment:

Take the fucking M3 and put the e30 away for three years. It wont be worth less in three years. :) I would never get close to having a M3 here in Denmark. The price is very high here because of high taxes. :( Its a 250.000 dollar car here.

NOT THIS!
Also, the reason for not considering a dct M3 is we currently have a 1 yr wait on M3's. This was ordered for a customer who backed out at the last minute.
I agree this would make a better addition verse a replacement.Leave a comment:

Swap your manual e30 to an auto, lease m3 for 36 months, then re swap e30 to manual.Leave a comment:

I'd just try and get a dct and win/win. The only thing I don't get is why you can't keep both. I get you can only have 1 manual car, but if money isn't an issue why can't you keep both? Either way I'd sell the e30 for an m3 at that deal lol. Unless you have some crazy boosted e30 than why not? you know how well the M3 drives more than most on here. I think sometimes people say keep the e30 just to say it.Leave a comment:

employee lease is a great deal but would never sell the e30. New m3 is a fun car. It should be an addition not a replacementLeave a comment:
